Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

@SpiderLegs
Look I get annoyed by people and crowds prob as much as anyone, but if I can find away to knock out a great hike from Peralta TH you can too trust me, oh and I don't want to be filling out some online permit to take an impromptu hike in the Supes one day!

Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

@chumley Yes I realize those areas are just within the boundary. The point is one should not allow two busy trailheads at two of the most popular areas in a wilderness area to ruin their inpression of a 150,000 acre wilderness area, nor should the gov. make some knee jerk reaction to implement prem...

Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

@SpiderLegs I'm pretty much with Jason on this. Unless it's mid-week I'm not hitting the Superstitions again....but there needs to be a solution to the hordes of large groups that converge in some of the wilderness areas We are amicable and chat regularly, so this is not a troll. But come on man, i...

@HarrisonBarnard1
Oh I see, there are several great looping options from there, however, I don't think any of them would really fall into the half day category...

Re: Camping Spot near Woodbury TH??

@HarrisonBarnard1
I think you would be fine with staying at the Woodbury TH and your experience would be more pleasant than the one you had at Rogers. I have seen many camped there before a backpack, or big hike in the past, seems to be room and allowed.

Re: Hike from Rogers Trough to Spencer Spring??

@HarrisonBarnard1 I have the same map and know of the little trail they have marked there. However, judging from the upper stretches of Spencer being a little overgrown, I have to believe that the more informal route is no walk in the park and partially there, or non existent in spots. That being s...

Well as long as we are just seeing who we can get a rise out of, just be grateful I don't post my pups' stats, or you would be chasing the tail of a 12 year old dog name Cupcake in the standings :lol:

Re: Tuscon hiker lost for 4 days on Mt. Lemmon

I am with ALMAL and Cactuscat, I was trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but some things just don't seem to add up heret..One or two things are going on here, some fabrications in the story, or he simply was not the avid outdoorsman he said he was...Lets get real, nobody is killing a be...

Re: Tuscon hiker lost for 4 days on Mt. Lemmon

That was a pretty interesting read, seems he generally did the right things...I do wonder about just how experienced he was in the outdoors though, as I can't imagine myself or any other outdoorsy people I know taking the time to build a spear to fend of black bears, we are not talking Montana Grizz...

@chumley Very good point to make! Probably some better ways to make the holidays better in the Phoenix area, or to spread holiday cheer for that matter...These self-righteous yuppies think they are championing some great cause, by starting a petition to leave piles of trash on top of a mountain in ...

Re: Lower LaBarge Canyon water

@sscalzo I think you could be cautiously optimistic about finding enough water to camp out there next weekend, did a little loop on Saturday and observed moderate pools and some very light flow in spots, the Supes do differ greatly valley to valley, however, most spots in a creek bed with some bedr...

Whatever decision you go with, just make sure you buy "gaiters" and not "crocs," similar animal, but totally different type of footwear/hiking accessory ;)
