Re: Found: Blue nylon stuff sack on Frog Tanks Trail

@BrettVet
Yes on trailer into Rogers Trough, but Woodbury would be your better starting point. Rogers Canyon is not the most horse friendly trail, whereas, going in JF and from Woodbury would be much more horse and horse trailer friendly...

Re: Found: Blue nylon stuff sack on Frog Tanks Trail

@The_Eagle This stuff? Been there at least since early 2014 Since May of 2012, Jim and I were probably some of the first few to come across it I imagine judging from some dates on the bread and other perishable items that were dated about two weeks before we came across the scene. Whoever the horse...

Re: Trekking Poles

@joebartels @jacobemerick I don't even think I have even ever put my wrist through the straps lol I got hiking poles 100 miles into CT and have not looked back, so I have found tremendous merit in the poles, but I have always found the straps trivial and I have never experienced any fatigue in the ...

Re: Robber's Roost in the Supes - Dog Friendly?

@pixelfrog
If you look at the hike description there is a dog friendly rating, it gets one, "dog friendly" rating and one, "neutral" rating...but nobody has said its not dog friendly FWIW....

Re: Tule TH Hammock Camping?

@chumley
Oh I stand corrected, I was thinking pic. was the corral on road on way in, left side...oops!

That being said, prob. looking for a tree near TH, or that wash would work better anyways, but that corral did have running water I want to say feeding a trough, so that could be nice..

Re: Tule TH Hammock Camping?

@joebartels @hikeaz the tank and fencing look different though The two picture and google pic are two different spots, I am familiar with both. I don't know about the smell, noisy windmill, or lack of wilderness, but my biggest concern would be the fact that its a pretty active ranching area, which...

Some sort of light weight, collapsible, safe tubing, maybe like what a dryer utilizes that could be brought to an edge of a fire, draw heat and then subsequently bring heat into a tent :) Less than one pound....

Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

@chumley To echo Joe a little as well, the Supes still feel like wilderness to me and seem to fit the above description/expectations of a wilderness area pretty well. Yes a couple of trailheads area a little busy, but its people on foot and that beats mechanized machinery, or the encroachment of ci...

@SpiderLegs
Look I get annoyed by people and crowds prob as much as anyone, but if I can find away to knock out a great hike from Peralta TH you can too trust me, oh and I don't want to be filling out some online permit to take an impromptu hike in the Supes one day!

Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

@chumley Yes I realize those areas are just within the boundary. The point is one should not allow two busy trailheads at two of the most popular areas in a wilderness area to ruin their inpression of a 150,000 acre wilderness area, nor should the gov. make some knee jerk reaction to implement prem...

Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

@SpiderLegs I'm pretty much with Jason on this. Unless it's mid-week I'm not hitting the Superstitions again....but there needs to be a solution to the hordes of large groups that converge in some of the wilderness areas We are amicable and chat regularly, so this is not a troll. But come on man, i...

Re: Camping Spot near Woodbury TH??

@HarrisonBarnard1
I think you would be fine with staying at the Woodbury TH and your experience would be more pleasant than the one you had at Rogers. I have seen many camped there before a backpack, or big hike in the past, seems to be room and allowed.

Re: Hike from Rogers Trough to Spencer Spring??

@HarrisonBarnard1 I have the same map and know of the little trail they have marked there. However, judging from the upper stretches of Spencer being a little overgrown, I have to believe that the more informal route is no walk in the park and partially there, or non existent in spots. That being s...

Well as long as we are just seeing who we can get a rise out of, just be grateful I don't post my pups' stats, or you would be chasing the tail of a 12 year old dog name Cupcake in the standings :lol:
