Re: the great Knoll Lake escape

I was up there 4 weeks ago and all of the cairns have recently been replace/rebuilt. The trees are regrowing well and hides the trail in some areas once on top. There has been some erosion on the trail just above the Fish Hatchery, it gets a little thin. The new logging roads on top tossed me for a ...

Do you know when they usually open the other end? It's so much faster! :)
Last I have seen reported from both FS and AZGFD is May 15th.

Re: the great Knoll Lake escape

Fishing report for Knoll: KNOLL LAKE — The FR 300 is open on the Coconino National Forest side, but not from the Woods Canyon Lake side. No reports from anglers. Fishing should be fairly decent for the larger hold-over trout, but catch rates might start off a little slow until the water warms a few ...

Re: the great Knoll Lake escape

Already have the hunt/fish, just wondering if it was anything like Lee's Ferry - artificial lures only, barbless hooks, etc. These are the only Special Regulations for Knoll Lake: AZGFD: Knoll Lake Unlimited rainbow and brown trout from Sept. 1 through March 31. Note: from April 1 through Aug. 31 t...

It's already all packed sitting with my gear, and my spinning rod.

I'm just waiting on word from the wife before I confirm.

I'll keep this one in mind. I have been wanting to get back up since the last trip a few weeks ago. As long as everything works out schedule wise I plan on being there!

Re: Rim Roads opening back up

Snow and Mud Make Roads Impassible 04/11/2011 The Mogollon Rim received over a foot of snow this past weekend and some roads that had been opened have become hazardous and impassible. For public safety and to prevent road damage, we request that people stay on pavement and graveled roads that are no...

Re: What is your Favorite sleeping pad

I have the REI Trekker 1.75 sleeping pad. I like it, but its too big. I have been looking around for a replacement but I haven't been able to decide which. Kooka Bay has a down filled sleeping pad that looks pretty nice.

Re: Jump-starting fitness

Anyway, I've learned and re-learned many times that it's a lot easier to stay in shape than to get in shape. If only life would cooperate by dealing fewer interruptions. You said it right there! I have been able to get back into the gym the last 4 weeks. I'm so out of shape in comparison to where I...

Re: New To Central AZ

Thanks, I have been looking at some of the trails, and I am thinking of doing an over nighter on U-Bar Trail #28, any thoughts? It's beautiful country up there. I really enjoy that area. It will be hard to say if it would work based on when Forest Road 300 (FR300/Rim Road) opens back up. It is clos...

Re: New To Central AZ

:welcome: As of right now I don't have any suggestions for you, but I'll keep thinking about it. For green and cool, you will probably be looking in the Payson area. There are only a few trips I have ever done and didn't see anyone else, but most of those have been few and far between. But almost al...
