Re: Snow Peak - Pack & Carry Fireplace Kit ST-032SET

@joebartels I've been using this unit for quite some time. I use a Stansport fanny pack and have to bungee cord it on "piggy-back style". Of course the 31.5 # weight is a misprint, as it is actually 31.5 kilos or just over 69 pounds. Small price to pay for having the ability to roast marshmallows o...

Didn't Ron Popeil market some excellent mountaineering thongs? Great arch support and heel cup if memory serves.

Re: 16 y.o. Boy Scout Dies on Picacho Peak

As an Eagle Scout and former Troop Leader I'm very surprised that it was reported that they "ran out of water" half way through the hike. To "be prepared" was always taken to extremes as I recall. Much more than just a motto. So very sad to lose someone so young.

Wow, my tail is between my legs! They used to be on Shea east of Scottsdale Rd. and the Saba's store nearby told me they were kaput. Fake News.

@Alston_Neal
Not sure how I got on this forum after 5 years Alston... but since no one answered your question and knowing you don't get out much, the Chuckbox is closed. And sadly Mag's Ham Bun is also gone. :-(
A Double-Double from In and Out works for me most of the time though.

Re: Death Valley N.P. enlarged

@hikeaz Thank you kindly for posting this news. When I was younger I spent some time in that area and studied the Panamint/Koso and Paiute tribes that lived in the area and their material culture. It should not matter one bit that the bill is named after a democrat or signed by a republican. Enlarg...

Whazzit #2 ???

No answers from my photoset so I'll try here also. What the heck is this thing. The cement box is completely sealed and goes into the ground only about 12 inches. No way in except through the odd chimney looking structure. Size is approx. 4 feet square. Also note the metal tabs imbedded in the concr...
