Re: Lime Creek 51 Ranch - Horseshoe

so you want to stay at the cabin, then go back out? that's 12 mi r/t right? or do you plan to go six miles, set up camp and then dayhike up to 14 on TOP of the six? or would you rather hike 13 miles, camp, then return? i'd like to hear what you end up doing. either way, you have to hike (up to) 26 m...

Re: Lime Creek 51 Ranch - Horseshoe

odd - being that they are the only Hobie dealer in town, and they sell mostly fishing kayaks.. but still. i just ran into him at saguaro on monday. i did find it funny he was using his fishing 'yak as a SUP, with a tiny, 36" long oar!! lol he looked like a paddling Hobbit.

Re: Packrafting trips in January

this trip will take you across canyon lake, and into a slot that starts off w/ easy scrambling. there are some nice narrows area back there, with a spring(?) you do NOT have to get involved with technical areas, if you just turn around where ropes are needed. it's a fairly straighforward paddle to t...

Re: Needle Canyon water

someone on the GET forums said there was no water in the entire (what, mile?) of needle. this was of last 2 weeks. i found that hard to believe, since we saw water in geronimo's ravine and again in peter's just last week... and the pool right near the needle/boulder intersection is about 8' deep cap...

i use a shorty underquilt rated to (approximate) 20°and a 32° topquilt. i actually pushed this combo down to 17 degrees once or twice. btw, direction of your travel has little to do with temperatures. there are a dozen big mountains in southern arizona where you can also freeze your ass off all you ...
