Re: Route Scout app question

IF we had flagged each other's account and the tracks as "Follow", then I believe I could download her track using my phone and login ID. Yes? No? Yes, any track set to "follow" can be loaded to the app of anybody who that person is following. Meaning your wife's track must be set to "follow" and s...

I'm not worried about staying warm, but the clouds won't cooperate in NJ. I was just happy to see the sliver of moon for a while tonight.

Re: Wood Burning Stove

I can certainly try it at the start of the hike, and switch to alcohol if need be. Alcohol stoves are also prohibited in the fire bans. They want something that has a fuel shut-off valve. ETA: I sympathize, though. I use an alcohol stove whenever conditions permit. The Caldera Cone is my favorite.

I give him credit for immediately coming clean. However, characterizing the outcome as "a complete accident" is a stretch. He detonated an incendiary device in a field of dry grass. It would have been an accident if it didn't catch fire.

Bobcat sighting

I couldn't get pics while I was driving, but I got a great look at a bobcat driving back out from Haunted Canyon on FR287. It was up near the mine tailings, bouncing along on the shoulder just ahead of me going uphill. I've seen a few bobcats in the wild before, but never out in the open like that.

Re: The 2019!! Cyclical totals discussion thread.

@Jim_H

Yeah, I probably had about 250 miles of unreported hikes this year, not counting fitness or routine hikes. Maybe 40,000 feet of AEG (again, not counting conditioning hikes, which would double it).
