Re: Royal Arch rappel to Toltec - Hand line still there?

Are you intending to come down the S. Bass trail and out the R.A. drainage, returning to S.B. T/H, or? Having been a few times, there has always been a rope at the climb, if not two or three. I prefer to come down as that allows you to inspect the anchor and rope/webbing condition. Otherwise you are...

Re: Deer Creek/Thunder River loop

(Stone Creek) I generally use the term creek-river right/left, as then the thumb-rule is that it means 'looking down canyon', or LDC. Sorry if my words were unclear. Yes, departing Tapeats about the black diamond the route on the east side of Tapeats Creek (a pretty nice trail actually) heads southi...

Re: Deer Creek/Thunder River loop

The route stays up higher on creek-left traversing ......likely about 1/2 hour above the Grand. In other words, the standard Tapeats route (lower) will run on the west side of the 'narrows' section of the creek in the lower section, whereas this route runs generally parallel but on the east (creek l...

Re: Current Water Availability in the Supes

Worst case will be Charlebois Spring, about 1.5 mi. east, although check along LaBarge Canyon between Charlebois and M.V. - you may have some luck there.

Re: Deer Creek/Thunder River loop

You may consider the easy trip over to Stone Creek, pretty area and seldom visited by backpackers. The views from the trail are stunning as well.

It gets toasty along the Tapeats - D.C. route; if possible the earlier in the day the better.

Gardner Prescribed Fire as early as April 9, 2018

The burn area boundaries lie between Gardner Canyon on the north and Hog Canyon on the south. Fire managers expect to complete burning while environmental and fuels conditions remain favorable for manageable fire activity. Approximately 250 acres are planned for the project. Burning may continue for...

Re: MCSO Copter Rescues 24 off Mt Ord

CAMRA has more details on their fb page - definitely wasn't 'off Mt Ord'. Sounds like the group did a couple of things wrong, like splitting the 24 into 4 chunks, which complicated the rescue. After reading the CAMR account it almost sounds like > https://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=966 From th...

Gobs of places ((campgrounds (some are N/C) or forest roads (always N/C) ). Apache Sitgreaves Forest map or Gazetteer may be of help. Or their website; https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/asnf/r ... ing-cabins .
Hannagan Meadow has lodging and meals, as does Alpine.

Re: Exploring The Superstitions - Annerino

In this book, he claims to have been leader of what he thinks were the first groups to hike the Superstition Ridgeline route in "modern times" - he doesn't specify what year that was, but it was interesting to read and to think about trailblazing that route! Maybe..... I have seen plenty of photos ...

Second Water Spring, although semi-close to the T/H is an option.

https://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=16746 Thanks Steve..... I blemmed... I had filtered out all but 'hikes' - I omitted 'canyoneering'. D.A. I am. Did you backtrack that trip; or? @arizona_water Thank you! I appreciate this! Anyone who has insight into the situation at Cremation Creek would be appreciated. I can carry half my weight in water, but don't want to if there is not a need! If no water at the Grapevine crossing, look upstream a ways - always water there (really coo...
