AllTrails is not usually to be taken seriously and is an abysmal platform and site.

Re: Camelback Christmas Tree

Hopefully they will ban the tree and if he resists, him too. It has ZERO to do with Christmas and all to do with trash, trinkets, foil and birdseed that don't belong in that environment.

But I have no dog in the fight as I wouldn't be caught dead up there. Not my cup of tea.

Re: Pinals now shut down for the summer

@azbackpackr I might hike that loop this weekend. I am not excited to replace Icehouse Canyon with Pk 5024, so the Rim may be better. I think it is too early for the Pinalenos, and if the Sierra Ancha are as burned over as at least 1 HAZ member posted, I would rather go to the Rim. Besides, I have ...

*Friend on AZT thru hike in Payson with injured fellow hiker

(they hitched into town) with an injured trail companion. If you live in or are near Payson and can possibly assist her/them, can you private message me ASAP and I will get you into contact with them.

They were apprehensive about giving out her phone number, etc. on here. I understand their POV.

If you hike/live in Peoria

We'd like to invite you to attend one of our Plan Peoria AZ meetings. We here in Peoria have a passion for open space preservation, conservation, and hiking. As you all are more than aware, Lake Pleasant is in Peoria and some of the Hieroglyphics are in Peoria. If you'd like to see some of these are...

Re: Google Earth PRO is now FREE

I hate how streamlined and featureless it is. Probably why it's free... :o I meant from the previous free version. They literally took away all of the features and turned it into Google Maps with 3D. The imagery is great, but using it for hiking and planning routes just got much much harder or at l...

I suspect that it is a matter of when, not if that the tram is built. If there is money to be made, somebody's going to make it.

Re: Rattler Prey

The one I stepped on in the wash on the Terrapin Trail in the Superstitions thankfully had a bird in its mouth. I actually didn't step on it, I jumped on it... I jumped off a rocky ledge into the sandy wash and it was stretched out and had a bird in its mouth. It jumped into a pool of stagnant water...

Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

@chumley Yes I realize those areas are just within the boundary. The point is one should not allow two busy trailheads at two of the most popular areas in a wilderness area to ruin their inpression of a 150,000 acre wilderness area, nor should the gov. make some knee jerk reaction to implement prem...

@SpiderLegs I'm pretty much with Jason on this. Unless it's mid-week I'm not hitting the Superstitions again....but there needs to be a solution to the hordes of large groups that converge in some of the wilderness areas We are amicable and chat regularly, so this is not a troll. But come on man, i...

Re: It's time for Wilderness quotas

I am fine with permits, I'm even fine with fees (considering they are reasonable and the monies are used appropriately) but I am not fine with lotteries and I think it is the stupidest thing that I've ever heard of. I shouldn't have to win a lottery to hike a trail on public lands. To be honest, the...

Re: Suggestions for Locating Co-Scramblers

I bag wilderness areas as a pastime. I haven't updated my "wilderness vitae" recently, but I'm at roughly 170 now, hiked. I do the high point if it's reasonable from a starting point reachable in my Yaris or rental car. Before moving to Phoenix in March 2016, I would fly out to various reaches of t...

I take almost nothing, ever, only drink water while on the hike, I do drink coffee in the AM before a hike 90% of the time. I don't like taking ANY medicine of any kind, including tylenol, advil, ibuprofen, etc. Occasionally, I will take a couple ibuprofen if I have a headache on the hike but that's...

The Feds now own aprox. 60 % of the land in the 3 affected states. (80% in Utah and 70% in Nevada ,50% Arizona) Now you guys all live here and know a lot more than me about whats really going on . It appears to me that this could be a land ,control grab where Soros and his cronies could easily capi...
