Re: Hieroglyphics/Lake Pleasant Area

Quick Question- Besides the big jim trail etc. is there any other remote hikes out in the Hieroglyphic mountains? My only concern is that from driving castle hot springs road there appears to be a significant amount of private property? I'm only guessing but I'd assume most of these people own fire...

Re: Arizona wildlife sightings

Saw a javelina at work yesterday, as I was exiting the backdoor, it was probably 20 yards away. We made definite eye-contact. Our parking lot opens right into the desert (McDowells), so it bolted into the desert as I fumbled in my pocket for my phone to take a pic  Next time you make a GC trip...

Re: Arizona wildlife sightings

There are badgers in Spur Cross Ranch Conservation area. If you don't already, you should follow them on Facebook as they post wildlife cam shots all the time.

Re: Favorite Peaks

I have different categories/reasons as well. Baxley Hill in AL (400 feet). First 'hill' I ever climbed as a small child. My dad took me to it. I thought it was Everest. Mt. Cheaha in AL my first state HP. Again, thought it was Everest, now would climb it as a warm up, LOL. Peak 3465 in the Hieroglyp...

Joe out of all your hikes, Isis Temple is your #1? I'm asking because as the proprietor of this site, that would carry a ton of weight, etc.

Re: Fossil Creek - Comprehensive River Management Plan

The third link in the OP is really the easiest way to see and compare the plans. The bottom of the page includes a handy table that shows the changes from one to another. It's also available in PDF format (attached here). 55209_FSPLT3_3907875.pdf Upon reading this last week I was a little bit disap...

Re: 2017 Hazolutions

I will not meet my miles hiked goal of 750 miles but I am going to crush my 50 summits goal probably hitting closer to 80 summits in 2016. Mind you this is total summits and is inclusive of all summit types (i.e. no 14ers, etc.)

Re: Camelback Christmas Tree

A compromise has been reached. "In the spirit of the holiday season, we've come to an agreement to temporarily allow a non-decorated natural tree on Camelback Mountain through January 1, 2017," Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department spokesman Gregg Bach said in an email. "Members of that group wil...
