Re: Humphreys Acclimation Camp next Friday PM ?

Acclimatize for Humphrey? Really? Okay. Overall fitness, hydration, and morning food are probably more important for our incredibly enjoyable, very scenic, but still modest 12er. I would stay in Flag, if you want to be nearer to minimize AM drive times, which I get. I do not sleep well camping, so ...

Humphreys Acclimation

I'm taking a TN flatlander(LOL) to 'do Humphrey's' next Saturday, AM. When you've driven up to Snowbowl for your Humphreys summits, have you always just A. slept in your car, B. walked a bit down the Aspen Loop Trail and pitched your tent, etc. C. or pitched your tent elsewhere nearby or in the park...

Re: 2016 Hazolutions

I'm on pace to hit one goal but not hit another one. I'd set a goal to hike 750 miles this year and that ain't gonna happen. My goal of 50 total mountain summits (regardless of height) I'm going to shatter.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat

One of the more impressive photos of a monsoon storm was posted by 3TV tonight. Taken by helicopter pilot Bruce Haffner. http://www.azfamily.com/story/32473724/monsoon-storm-hits-valley-causes-flooding-power-outage Super cool! Yes. Sadly, imagine that, two times as wide, if not more and a tornado i...

Re: What's the best way to catch a Mountain Goat?

This came on my feed as I was uploading the Mountain Goat videos from yesterday's hike. Interesting process right up my alley. https://youtu.be/4Pqc2Afhz3o ...and interestingly Mountain Goats are not goats they belong to the antelope family hmmm... I believe they kill more people per year than bear...

I lost a prime month to injury. I also wish we had a retired category and a folks that work category to filter by, LOL.

If I didn't have a job, I'd have 3X the miles, minimum.

Yes, Liz @azbackpackr it failed. Since most of the reprobates seem to have a dog attached to their hip at all times, maybe this is a good compromise.

Re: hiking ban during hot temperatures

@JasonCleghorn I fail to see the connection between being allowed to hike Camelback when it's hot out and people that don't practice LNT ethics. It's not like putting temperature restrictions on all of us are going to clear the tools out of your IG feed. I don't like the idea of a city council memb...
