What kind of vehicles do you guys all drive when your going hiking? Im thinking about investing in a 4wd high clearance Jeep or something of the sort so I could get to some places where I definitely couldnt get to with what Im driving now (73 mustang):) I saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee today for $2600 and I was thinking about checking it out. What "hiking vehicle" is easiest to drive and which gets the best gas mileage (even though I know most wouldnt be too fuel efficient.)

I have a 2014 I bought a few years back, with less than 24 K on it at purchase. I paid thru the nose for it. It's lifted and has some extras and while very capable off road I've kinda babied it using it more as a "car". This one if I buy it will be the " oh I dented the quarter panel against that boulder or put a tree branch in a headlight" so what and just keep on going.

Is there any other way to handle this situation?

Done deal. 2011 trail teams, lifted, metal cloak front bumper with winch, back metal cloak bumper with tire carrier and Jerry can carrier, tow hitch. Full skid plates. Dealer found some problems, I negotiate with seller, I pay less and seller agrees to repairs at his mechanics shop--who I met. LED light bar in front of roof rack. Army Green. Will have to replace tires.
