I thought I'd throw an idea out on the table
maybe we could combine the map & compass event with another that's been requested
how about...
the 1st Annual HAZ BBQ
I'm thinkin' South Mountain, Papago(but it closes at dusk) or Piestewa(the other side which is more of a park)
or wherever is good for orienteering & a BBQ
mid July Saturday, starts late afternoon with map & compass then the masses join for one hum dinger of a BBQ
might need more guides than just Matt if there's a lot of folks

a personal note:
I'm having computer problems big time, but hopefully it will be fixed this week or good enough to get me through for a while.
I have phone numbers of a few members here, so if I lose the computer totally, I'll contact someone to let you know I'm still around.
Even tho I may not be posting for a while, I will be attending the BBQ.
So if you don't hear from me, stop cheering, I'll be backkkkkk...

So what is the status on Beer? Is there enough people to warrant getting a Keg? I think a 1/2 barrel would be enough - but 4-Peaks doens't make - only full kegs - and they are about $90. Then you have get the Co2, and tap, etc.
Are we better off just getting some cans of beer? We could throw them all over Papago and schedule a clean-up too (JK.)

As much as I would like to attend - that is the Saturday of my little boy's birthday. He'll be turning 3 and we have a swim party scheduled for him that day.
I like all of you and all - but not as much as I like my son. No offense - but the BBQ is a DISTANT second to the little monkey-boy.
If we are over sooner - I may show up late and say howdy. But that is about the best I can promise.

Please no can beer, I'm sure everyone drinking won't mind pitching in to pay for it.

Haven't seen your posts in a while nessa. I thought the heat had got to you.
You are, in fact, signed up!
To volunteer for an item to bring, go check out the list of needed items on the group hike page. Most categories have already filled up but please feel free to double up on something. All you have to do is type in what you would like to bring into the notes section next to your picture (use the edit button at the top right of the box).
