That was Joe's original plan but he got cold waiting and decided to hike to museums and collect rocks and such.

Who is in for the Saturday day-hike besides Bob and Wally?

I'd prefer to be hiking this route, starting midnight on Friday.

Andy are we key swapping (more of a key give as we don't need yours) with your group? In which case we'd probably need to start at 2am to cross paths or require us to hike by Reavis which either requires a couple extra miles or alter the route which adds something like 1,500 AEG (may add mileage too, IDK). Day-hikers also need two vehicles to accommodate the larger backpacker group, is Tule 4x4? Bob can you drive your jeep if needed? Ideas, thoughts, prayers...

I'm in.... ugh dude. 36 miles in the supes is far different from 36 miles anywhere else. I will be hiking in long pants for a change. Hello catclaw. Hopefully I'm capable. FYI I plan on sleeping the entire drive to the trailhead and napping HEAVILY all day Friday. Unfortunately Prop 203 didn't pass so looks like I won't be able to bring any pain relievers along on this hike...

While we're on the subject, Joe were you under the influence of anything when you came up with the idea to do this as a dayhike?? I think its highly unlikely that someone would come up with the idea of doing a hike like this while in a sober state.

It beats 42 miles, though. The difference is almost enough to tempt me. Almost.

Nice to see the group getting out for a "real" hike every now and then... of such are memories made! Of course, they're not always gonna be good memories. Have fun!!

OK, so the earlier proposed Randolph route (by Kurt ;) ) is still the one we'll take then. Not sure that I completely understand the couple extra miles to hit Reavis camp comment. Normally I camp very close to the Reavis Gap trail intersection, which should be right along your route. Concerning vehicles, we may have up to 8 people in the backpack group. I am considering driving another vehicle up there thursday evening. So how many cars will there be at Tule from the day hike crowd? We'll be happy to drive them over to Peralta trailhead for you. I am considering going out to Tule next weekend for the day to do some recon and hike some of the way in. Anybody interested?

We miss the #118 Gap junction by about a mile, hence a couple miles out-n-back. We can go by Reavis but it will increase our AEG by about 1,500 ft. No one responded to that so maybe it's not an issue to the day hikers I don't know how early you plan on breaking camp in the morning. I know if te-wa is involved it's like nine o'clock...lol
The 13 miles to the 117/109 junction is the most AEG for the day so I figure it will take us 6 hours.

Currently we have one small 4x4. Doesn't appear we have a second 4x4 so might have to hike to Tule also which probably adds another mile or so.

Tule Trailhead is accessible by car isn't it? Jeez, adding mileage like its nothing. You guys can add mileage to meet up with the campers, but I'm continuing to trudge along towards Peralta. I'm not going out of the way on this trip for anything. I am all for taking the route with the least AEG, the least mileage, and the least catclaw. I hope that doesn't make me sound like a wimp.

I haven't been there in a decade, I thought it was high clearance but then thought someone said different. It's 1.5mi from the turnoff, if it is bad I doubt it's the whole way. Hopefully someone takes Andy up on his offer to check it out.

I'd be willing to donate the Subi to the cause, if you think she can make it on that road. That road we accidentally ended up on at Abineau-Bear Jaw was pretty hairy and she did alright there..
