3 Days in "Paradise" with The Hippy

November 9/10/11 2012 (Fri/Sat/Sun)

I'll be leading a troupe into the Supes for 3 days of fun, hiking, exploring (and cartwheels, can't forget the cartwheels!) So of course everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us.

Day 1 (friday)
Roughly 2 1/2 hour drive from Peoria (where I live) so we'll plan on a 4am depart from home for an early start.
Depending on who all will join us I may opt to leave the night before (because I love night hiking : rambo : ) but we'll take a vote.

We will begin at Reavis Trailhead (Reavis Ranch Via North #109) it's roughly a 9 mile hike to Reavis Ranch, there we will set up base camp

Day 2 (saturday)
From our base camp at Reavis Ranch we will head out to visit Circlestone and finish it up with a group bagging of Mound Mountain's peak at 6,266 feet. Shouldn't take the entire day to do this but we'll use the entire day to explore.

Day 3 (sunday)
Lazy morning of exploring the area followed by the 9 mile hike back to the vehicle(s) at Reavis Trailhead and home in time for supper!

3 days in the Supes, doesn't get any better than this....well, unless you're Elisha Reavis a century or so ago... :D

Can't go as I have committments I cannot cancel. :-({|=

However I will take the mask off and see you on Friday morning at the trailhead, meet everybody and wish you well. :D
I will bring my wife along so she can experience that wonderful sunrise view of the lake and mountains. :y:

As far as gear goes-- I'm bringing my steripen and stove. They are small, light, and I like to be self-reliant especially when people are arriving at different times and doing different hikes on saturday. Larry will probably want to use my steripen. ;)

Also, there are twelve committed on HAZ but there are at least a handful of non-HAZer's coming along so its gonna be quite a group down there.

Sorry to hear Trish.

It looks like it's going to turn into quite an adventure, what with the temperatures set to drop 30-degrees, rain, snow, and who-knows-what-else in the cards. It seems like it's going to turn out to be a memorable trip!

So what's the status???

Do we need to rename this trip...."3 Days in "Paradise" with The Chumster?" If so, I may need to hurt my ankle also....

relax! I'm still going...unless I can't walk on friday...but it's looking good so far.

I won't be bringing any filter or stoves or anything for weight reasons for the sake of my ankle, and I won't need a stove and the filter I know I can borrow from Vince.

As for handful of Non-HAZzaers, there are at least 3 off site that I can think of, possibly 4, but we'll see who actually shows up on friday!

gross! :sl: no worries Mister Boots...the ankle is feeling better already...the swelling is down to almost normal except on one side, My mangers are allowing me light duty, i have crutches to use....and my awesome vegan super powers have yet to fail me!!

I mean...if it was a broken ankle I can understand how I couldn't go...but a sprain... pffft! I can take care of myself if I have to crawl nine miles or hobble in on crutches... I'll do it. :D

we could always take a vote...to go, or not to go. But I think it depends on how the ankle feels come friday morning...I'll prepare to go and if I can't...well...I'll get some firewood and stay cozy warm in my apartment

That's debatable. Apparently said powers have no preventative qualities? ;)

@HippyHaley
You can take whatever risk you want, Hippy... we all know its gonna be Larry that gets stuck carrying you outta there. :sl: And as far as your gear goes, you better bring some cash for the rest of us. ;)

You could climb into Larry's pack and he would never know it. Actually there is a method for carrying out someone who can't walk using a pack, so there you go!

Saw the Dr this morning, he sent me to some foot brace place where I was fitted for a very sexy ankle brace...I described my plans for the weekend his exact words were, "Well I'm not going to tell you to beat it up right away but if it doesn't hurt then go for it."
So I pranced around work in the brace and my boots for a while and was promptly sent home cuz the Dr's release didn't go through ](*,)
Okay what I'm getting at here is that the Dr said I'll be FINE to hike WITH the brace on just take it easy and keep it elevated and iced when not "in use". :y:

I told you I'd be going to Reavis. Nothing can stop the Hippy. :y:

That's great news! :y:
I do recommend you taking it for a test spin of 3-5 miles on Thursday. Not sure I'd want to get into a 20+ mile adventure without knowing how it will react to that kind of stress. Or else Kyle's post above won't really be a joke. :-k

AND...what time are we leaving the city guys? Are we shooting for 630am friday? I know Devin and his truckload are leaving earlier, I just wanna know how much sleep I need over the next few days.
