Haha, ya...I'll bet 89A was a mess!!! Deputies actually "opened" a "closure area" for safety reasons....

Mike and Liz, I know that SOME of the money put up to keep My Home open for this 7 days was raised/donated (whatever you want to call it) by Tusayan businesses. I know that's not much but it's worth it, it costs the government more money to keep us closed than it would to keep us open.
There were over 3,000 of us up here without jobs, no income, we have bills to pay and mouths to feed too. I'm just happy we're open again. But I'm also confident enough in our sad system to believe that they didn't take money from needy families to open the park...haha I mean...the system is bad...but not THAT bad!! :D

And if there is money for Grand Canyon, what is losing out in its place? What about funding for state parks and state roadside rest areas? What about CPS?
I hear you Liz, but I'm sure you know where much of the state money comes from. Like sales taxes on the purchases/lodging/etc of the thousands of tourists that come to the Grand Canyon, you know, taxes that weren't being collected while it was shut down. So as much as we want to wonder why there isn't money for this program or that program, that's a good question to bring up with our state legislators once this Federal fiasco is over. But how many folks will do that? Not many.

Hell, IMNSHO (In My Not-So Humble Opinion) all of Utah south of I-70 deserves National Park designation. Arizona Trail - Bah, over rated! Arizona Trail on steroids, http://hikearizona.com/gps=9285.
Ah, yes, meet my pal, John, who does not like trees! ;)
