I thought I'd throw an idea out on the table

maybe we could combine the map & compass event with another that's been requested

how about...

the 1st Annual HAZ BBQ

I'm thinkin' South Mountain, Papago(but it closes at dusk) or Piestewa(the other side which is more of a park)
or wherever is good for orienteering & a BBQ

mid July Saturday, starts late afternoon with map & compass then the masses join for one hum dinger of a BBQ

might need more guides than just Matt if there's a lot of folks

guess I still don't know where Papago Park is : rambo :

 only to come home to find it's off Curry Road

sorry, I obviously need to learn how to read
Maybe you should have taken the Map and Compass class! It was nice to see familiar faces and to meet new people. Thank you Matt for pulling this whole thing together. Thanks to Sheri for your hospitality. To Tom for great grilling. And to Bryan for the wonderful brew. It was a good time. :)

My old 'battle axe' doesn't take the greatest pics, but here are a few from last night. I knew I should have picked up that Canon PowerShot Friday night. :?

I'm hoping Kenny came through with a few too. Rodney? I saw the missing weiners pic. :) Any more?

Matt Giovanna, and George, thanks for the Map & Compass lesson. It was fun. We should do a real hike as a follow-up! (Let's wait till it cools off and we get a bit more proficient at using the tools we learnt in class)

Sue & Sheri for your endless energy hosting the event. Eevrything turned out great.

Thanks to the Grill Miesters :Tom & AzHiker96.

Thanks to all who made the event so memorable!!!

Looked over the pictures, and I recognized a few faces there - and a whole lot I didn't recognize. Man, I am bummed I didn't go now.

Oh, well. Maybe next time.

At least this time you folks weren't subjected to my "spent nuclear fuel rod" chili. I won't be making that again till the weather cools off.

Sorry I missed talking to you at the BBQ Rodney. I'll make sure to shoot the breeze with you at the next gathering.

Getting together with that many people tends to make 5 hours go by quick! There needs to be many more events during the year and between those, there's plenty of opportunities for hikes. :)

Oh my gosh! I can't believe I didn't pick up on that! I just didn't even think of a bunch of HAZ pictures being on AZW! You have to admit your original clue wasn't really all that great! Great pictures Rodney!
