Moving to Casa Grande / Phoenix / Kayenta / Anywhere

Well, I guess I'll have to change my screen name soon. My wife and I are going to be moving to Casa Grande before the end of the year. Listing the house for sale up in Page. No job yet, kinda scary, but my wife needs to go back to school full time. Even commuting to and from UofA, with the house prices in CG we'll save money over moving to El Pueblo. Big change - this will be my first time living off The Plateau since '99. Eeek!

You may want to check out the Meetup Groups, both Las Cruces and El Paso... they have a fairly full upcoming hiking schedule, if you enjoy group hikes. We have a full hiking schedule for the Fall, including a number of training oriented hikes over to Guadalupe Peak. Being new here and getting here at this time of year (cooler...near perfect weather) you're hiking options will be endless.

easiest is to simply go to Meetup.com... then search using the zipcode (88310)... using 100 mile radius. You'll see groups in El Paso and Las Cruces. There is some overlap on their hiking schedules. You may also want to sign up with the Albuquerque groups to monitor their hiking activity. Off course, if you enjoy solo hiking, simply search HAZ for the 100+ I've posted for the area. I'm about to be back to hiking six days weekly... some of those dull, training hikes... but you are certainly welcome to join us.
Great timing on your move... near perfect weather!

Headed to Flag to get my truck. Hiking Elden before I leave AZ, as a resident. Seems appropriate, given it was the first hike I did here.

My wife just accepted a new job with her company. Looks like snowboarding, whitewater kayaking and Mountains are in our future.

She starts March 4th. It's going to be a busy 6 weeks. Don't exactly know what were going to do with the house at this point, (rent/sell/hold onto it until we can break even) but everything has a way of working out. We'll probably rent until we can find a house and get to know the area. She initially interviewed for the only position available in Colorado in Littleton. She has been patiently looking for an opening at the Colorado Springs hospital for the last 3 years, but there has been no openings. Through a strange twist of fate although she was first choice for Littleton they hired someone else who just got engaged to a PT they hired (as a package deal) who was relocating from Pennsylvania. Anyway, a position opened up in Colorado Springs and she was hired there instead which was our first choice.

Crazy.
@Jim
I plan on it. I find the leather Merrells I have work well with snowshoes. They make a winter waterproof version vff now, but we'll see.

Maybe all the 14ers in Vffs.

Congrats to you both! That will be a nice change of scenery. Though, you don't have to move just because I'm about to start getting a weekday off of work. If you don't wank to hike with me-- just say so!

Joel, best of luck to you and the family! I finally got back to The Battleship a couple of days ago for an overnight and was thinking back to what a fun hike you, me, and Kyle had that day. Looking forward to reading about your CO adventures.

Just finished moving everything from garage to house now need to unpack before going to work. After whirlwind house hunting trip last month we closed and moved into our new home in 31 days. We are the newest residents of Cascade, Co. Pop. Roughly 1700. Our home is @ 7608' according to the survey. Shoveled snow this am.

Maybe next time I'll get some turns in and some hiking rather than hucking boxes.

My best friend from college lives up the road from you in Woodland Park. Looks like a very pretty area.
