3 Days in "Paradise" with The Hippy

November 9/10/11 2012 (Fri/Sat/Sun)
I'll be leading a troupe into the Supes for 3 days of fun, hiking, exploring (and cartwheels, can't forget the cartwheels!) So of course everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us.
Day 1 (friday)
Roughly 2 1/2 hour drive from Peoria (where I live) so we'll plan on a 4am depart from home for an early start.
Depending on who all will join us I may opt to leave the night before (because I love night hiking

) but we'll take a vote.
We will begin at Reavis Trailhead (Reavis Ranch Via North #109) it's roughly a 9 mile hike to Reavis Ranch, there we will set up base camp
Day 2 (saturday)
From our base camp at Reavis Ranch we will head out to visit Circlestone and finish it up with a group bagging of Mound Mountain's peak at 6,266 feet. Shouldn't take the entire day to do this but we'll use the entire day to explore.
Day 3 (sunday)
Lazy morning of exploring the area followed by the 9 mile hike back to the vehicle(s) at Reavis Trailhead and home in time for supper!
3 days in the Supes, doesn't get any better than this....well, unless you're Elisha Reavis a century or so ago...

If someone actually does it, I don't think it will be me. Getting caught in Rough Cyn in the rain sounds awful

Fan and I cant leave Mesa until 1-ish
so i guess i'll make it to camp around 5 on Friday, but debating on Rough Canyon since it seems like a LONG day. maybe we'll just drink craft beer and have an impromptu game of rotten-apple baseball. hmm... ;)

sadly the Hippy isn't in, shoot I'm just focusing on making it to the Ranch right now :stretch:
The rain up here in Peoria is splendid at the moment, a nice thirty second downpour followed by an hour long rainbow or two and lovely pale blue skies...should be a lovely weekend

So here's my final weather analysis based on the forecast and the NWS discussion.
Friday will be pleasant temperature (mid 50s) with scattered rain showers until the cold front passes through in late afternoon. Then the temps will drop, it will be very windy, and clouds will thicken and the likelihood for more consistent rain showers will occur. Low at the ranch of 35 with rain showers overnight.
Saturday morning will be chilly with a rain shower or two. It will be cold. High of only 45. The chance of a shower will linger all day, but nothing should be too heavy or last too long.
Saturday night will be flat out icy. There's just a slight chance of a snow shower, but it will drop to 25 at the ranch.
Sunday should be cold and dry. It still won't get over 45 degrees.
Feel free to bring perishables, because your eggs and bacon aren't gonna spoil in these temps!

That's cold? It's colder than that in my house.

The way things are going, I'll be in AZ before the power comes back.

@Tough_Boots
Rough Canyon was named by the ranching cowboys because they could not ride a horse through it.
Vaporman could dance through it without uncoiling a rope.
Te-wa could scamper through it without getting a scratch.
Now for the rest of you, maybe it would be a little :stretch: or like a

.
But it would definitely be worth it.

I've done Rough Canyon once and don't ever want to go back... well, I'll do it again one of these days.

Rough Canyon would be a cake walk as it would be your second time through it. ;)

It did that today in Roger's Canyon.....And according to JJ, you'll have to climb the trees, but there are still some good apples left.....

4:00 AM - lightening in Apache Junction.
Wind, Rain, Sleet or Snow I normally would still hike the north trail into Reavis but not with lightening therefore I am resorting to my plan B and joining my grandson at his school for a program honoring Veterans.
Please be careful out there and be safe.

Thanks SG. Looks like the forecast has increased the amount of rain for today, and especially tonight. Should be entertaining!

Looks like the Reavis Party may be getting some Rain, Rain/Snow mix right about now. The triplogs should be thoroughly interesting and entertaining....
