Meanwhile in Colorado.
Fencing was erected earlier this week by members of the so-called Free Land Holders.
Patrick Leroy Pipkin, a survivor of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, leads the group. Warren Jeffs, the President of FLDS who is currently serving life in prison for sexually assaulting minors, used to own a 60-acre parcel of land north of Mancos. That plot changed ownership, and Pipkin has co-owned it since 2020.

Probably just shy of being sovereign citizens.

I didn't know tax paying was something you had to *believe in*. This will make April interesting.

Oh there’s a whole bunch of people who think it’s optional. Or unconstitutional for the feds to collect taxes at all. And many people get away with it for years. There are a couple people on haz that might tell you how they do it :sweat:

Free Land Holders submit 50-page response to lawsuit, the 50 pages were turned in on 8-by-16-inch paper and almost entirely handwritten.

@ShatteredArm
Adverse possession does not work against government entities.

@Sredfield You're making the mistake of looking at this through the prism of a society that respects law and order and gives authority to the government. Their argument is based on none of that being true.

Free Land Holders have private meeting in Denver court, they offered silver to the judge, a nod to the Articles of Confederation. I wonder if it was 30 pieces of silver?

I'll bet that judge is wondering why all the mental hospitals were closed.

U.S. attorneys say the Free Land Holder Committee has failed to respond to its lawsuit in a proper and timely way, and on April 1 filed a motion requesting that the U.S.> District Court in Denver enter a default judgment in the case.
