I'm planning on going down tonto canyon again this memorial day (from hellsgate to gisela). It's a rough trip but anyone who's interested is welcome to join me. I'd like to keep the group size around six or so. Much bigger and it gets harder to find places to camp. I already have one or two other people interested so let me know.

Well, we did a day hike up the tonto from gisela to check out the water level, it was pretty deep, pretty swift, and pretty cold. The falls were impassible going up, but there was a group of backpackers comming down (in wet suits) and they apparently made it down the falls. I think it's a jumper though...

It wasnt impassable.
It just sucked to go across.
Matt, I actually wonder whether more water might make the trip a bit easier.
I bet the higher water levels are gonna make this a sweet trip.
Have fun!!
