Hey folks,

I was wondering if anyone has any information about any beginner to intermediate digital photo workshops that may be coming up in the Valley, or any information on where I can look. I've tried the internet, however, we all know how vast and outdated it can be. I'm mainly looking for workshops dealing with exposure, lighting, and composition more than technical stuff about photoshop, etc.

Oh, and they must be reasonably priced, cuz ya know, its after Christmas and I am broke! :-({|=

You can find plenty on the internet about aperture, white balance, f-stops, whatever. I learned all about photography on the internet for free. Photo.net is a good website. After you learn the basics, you're better off learning and developing a style yourself anyway. Hell, you've got a digital camera, there's no film to waste. Just shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot. Higher shutter speeds produce sharper/grainier pictures. White balance to something blue and you get warmer colors and vice-versa. Don't put your finger in front of the lens. Shoot 1/60 or below and you might want to use a tripod. Use the rule of thirds when you compose photos- often time when the subject is centered the composition turns out very weak. Pay just as much attention to negative space as positive space.

There... start from that and you'll never have to take classes.

I like FREE! There's tons of info on the WWW. Anyone who shot 35mm film back in the day already has the basics down for digital photography, just the labels have changed. ISO=ASA, Aperture= F-stop etc etc etc. It's just learning your camera. Now maybe I'll eat those words but I'm just gonna have fun with it!
