So the hike itself is short, is there a recommended spot nearby to park and just walk a mile down the road or something...I'm not a big fan of waiting for spots to open up.

I was just there on Sunday and had to use the shuttle that runs on the weekends. It's $5 round-trip/person. It is located on the SE corner of Invergorden/Lincoln (watch for the signs). You call when you get down and they swing over to pick you up, if they aren't already there! Pretty nice deal, beats driving around or getting a ticket!

I'll simply continue biking there and avoid the rage that has become me before when waiting for a spot to open up. Plus it saves gas and adds to the workout

Biking won't get you anywhere. The entire trailhead area, as well as the whole summit trail itself will be closed. They are doing major construction to the trailhead and renovating the trail. Public access will be entirely restricted.

It's finally here! Echo Canyon Trail is set to open tomorrow morning, 30 minutes before sunrise. If anyone wants to join me I'll be parking at AJ's on Camelback and 44th street in the south lot. I'll probably get to AJ's about 6:30am, depending on traffic. I'll either ride my bike or jog to the trailhead.

We were surprised to see still a lot of cars on Invergordon this morning, almost like nothing happened at Echo Canyon.
It must have been packed there.

I turned onto McDonald yesterday around 1-2pm for grins and giggles and not surprisingly, it was a madhouse. If I go again, it'll be as early as the gate allows. Now if only I could stop hitting the snooze button...

I still don't get why they increased the, already huge, parking lot for a short 1.2 mile trail. It's still just as hard to find a spot...
