I thought it would be good to have a place where folks could keep us
up to date on where and when the fall foliage is at its best.

Just spoke to friend living in Sedona.Leaves have turned in West Fork and upper canyon, but not at full color yet. Some aspens are down on the Peak due to snow, but still color at lower elevations in Flagstaff. I'll see for myself tomorrow! Heading up there in the am! :)

I spent a few days in the White Mtn's this week near Hannagan Meadows. Colors were about peaked there, very beautiful. Also drove down along the Blue River, gorgeous country. A backpack down along Strayhorse Creek - Bear Mtn - Foot Creek Trail has long been on my list, but will wait for better water conditions. Anyway, the colors up there are well worth the drive.

Up to West Fork yesterday and there was lots of color, although some of the oaks were still green. Too many folks on the trail, and Sedona was one big traffic mess.

Was up at Snowbowl yesterday, enough snow for a few snow balls. Even had a few flurries. The aspens were beautiful. Then headed down to West Fork. The colors were amazing. I didn't expect so much color with the dry conditions we had this year. It was a wonderful day. :)

Well folks, didn't get to go to West Fork yesterday, but I will take off one day this week to do so. My friend said colors were Glorious, especially in view of the drought this year. There was still some green in the lower elevations. We are there every year for the peak colors and have done so since '1978. I'll try to get some pics on disc,so they can be viewed.(Have not yet advanced to a digital camera  )

Hiked up Pumphouse Wash in Sedona Sat 19 Oct 2002. Nice colors! It is a boulder-hop more than a hike. Took the dog too and he had a blast. Reds, yellows with beautiful canyon walls...

Hi All! I was in West Fork yesterdayand the color is pretty good, but the light was overcast,so was not able to get good phot ops as in previous years. There's still a lot of green left and the predominant color was yellow and gold.I don't know if the sugar maples get redder from moisture and if the dryness this year caused the lack of red,or if it is still to come. I think you all still have time to get there and enjoy!! :)

Visited the middle Verde Valley this past weekend and the leaves along the Verde and West Clear Creek area in full fall colors. On saturday morning I was atop a ridge overlooking Bullpen trailhead. The light rain and wind provided a very pleasant aroma of the fall foilage along West Clear Creek.

Went to Sedona Monday. What a wonderful day! Temp was about 65-70,breezy,sunny and awesome. Most of the color in the north canyon above Slide Rock is past, but color in the lower half along the creek is many shades of gold, orange, and yellow with a few spots of red. Hiked the Huckaby trail mostly for the views. I wonder how it would be at Wet Beaver Creek. Have to take that little trek back to crack in the rock! Bet color would be great there also! Also heard from a fried that color is nice at the Bushnell Tanks(if you can avoid all the atv's there!)
