Doyle

Doyle it is, it looks like the listed day is it, unless a large crowd demands otherwise, and I feel strongly about the IB approach. Strongly in favor. Weatherford approach is overrated, I say. Cut up slope south of Sugar loaf, skip the road, and gain max elevation.

FYI, fire restrictions mean we won't be able to have a campfire. If further restrictions evolve, we can just day hike.

Turns out I'm having a bachelor's party this weekend, so I won't be able to make it.

Liz hasn't updated, but I know she's out as she is either moving back to the White Mountains or going on some Canyon event that weekend. So that just leaves the two other guys. Guys?

With the weather forecast being cold and no wide interest, JK and I have decided to either postpone or cancel. Postponing right now to an undetermined date.
JK asked to reschedule for June or later.

No sense in wasting a thread, and Kendrick didn't garner much commiting attention. I was thinking of resurrecting the Doyle Peak idea, sometime in June. I'll poll it, and if there is interest, plans can be made.

I voted Doyle, since by June the Peaks are usually OK for travel, and Kendrick is not as interesting for a group activity. I also prefer to hike up from the Inner Basin. This will require additional road mileage, but having done this in winter I can say it isn't that bad. If we are lucky, springs may be flowing.

I'll vote for doing Doyle Pk over Kendrick, I think that would be a better trip. Don't have a preference for doing Weatherford Tr vs Inner Basin Tr to get up to Doyle, either would be great. Which weekends would work for people in June?

I have the first weekend in June free, I think, and possibly the second. Will need to be doing some training for upcoming Sierras backpacking trip. No promises, Jim, but I'd try to show up.

I'm interested as always but won't know until a day or two beforehand. By the way, don't forget that the road to Lockett Meadow is closed so that adds an additional 6 miles to hike from the Inner Basin. A rough estimate on that I would guess to be 16-17 miles.

It's not that far, maybe 12 to 14, 15 at the absolute tops. I did Fremont in February and had to start at the locked gate, it was not that bad. It's a little longer to do the Cirque, and I did that twice in the winter of 2010, so Doyle is very doable from the road. We can cut cross country to shorten the route, if need be.

It looks like no one is interested in little ol' Kendrick. Can't say I blame them. I'll take Kendrick down.

I'm probably taking a first-timer up Humphreys this day, we can wave at each other from peak to peak though.

Humphrey, huh? Well, it's the most popular time of year for that.

This is now 6 days away. If you think you'll bow out, can you? Or, of you think you'll come, can you commit? It makes it easier when the day arrives. I'll send out info a day or so before.
