Humphrey's Peak

This will be my first ascent up Arizona's highest peak. Will probably choose to go up on Friday to allow at least a little bit of elevation acclimation, then start hiking on Saturday. Summit Trail #151 or via Inner Basin. Don't really have a route set in stone. Thoughts? I imagine Inner Basin is beautiful during fall, but not sure how the longer trek rates in fall.

Magically repaired. Had to be the Wizard.

I'm committing on this for the 7am start time. I'm bringing a friend, it will be his first time up. I'm planning on hitting the bomber wreck on the way up too.

Have fun on Humphrey. Hopefully, the wind will start to calm down and the temps will be warming by next Saturday. Doyle should still be fun, but it's only looking like low 50s and the wind should be up.

This sounds awsome. Too bad I'm on call that weekend.

What is the expected temperature at the summit? If Flagstaff at 7000ft is forecast for low 80's at mid day, then I'm guessing low 60's at the summit. Or, am I way off?

@Rick Vincent
Yep, low 60s. It'll be sunny as hell though. Bring a light jacket just in case but I'm gonna be in shorts and a t-shirt up there! Don't forget to sunscreen it up. Burns happen quick up in that light air.

Looks like everyone is agreed on a 7am start time from the trailhead at Snowbowl Road. Check out bomber wreck on the way up then summit.

Are we meeting at the lower (main) trailhead or at the upper (ski lodge) trailhead?

I think the lower is the most straight forward

Gonna be blustery tomorrow, weather service says gusts to 37. It's not a real summit bid without a little wind!

I will leave this call to the locals. I take it that this is the lower location mentioned above.

The connecting trail from the ski lodge to the main trail is closed as of last Sunday.
As for the signage, when you approach Snowbowl there is a big sign saying Ski Lodge straight ahead, Mt. Humphreys Trailhead on left, and it points directly to the trailhead (lower) parking lot entrance.
