Boynton Canyon

Would anyone be interested in a hike up Boynton Canyon on Oct 26th? Every year I hike this beautiful canyon near the end of October because there are usually as good of fall colors as you're going to get in Arizona.

I'm not a gonzo rapid hiker, I like to take it easy. After all, the journey is the best part, so I like to enjoy it rather than see nothing but the tops of my hiking boots.

If interested, please contact me at desertboots@cox.net

Parking Permit

I just rembered something. In Sedona, they require a Red Rock Pass at trailheads now. I had a year round permit but it's expired. So, the first stop will be at the information office in Oak Creek to obtain permits. I think this is where we will re-group other than the McDonald's. There's nice restrooms there as well, better than McDonalds.

The daily fee is $5.00 per vehicle. The South Gateway Visitor's Center is located on Hwy 179 in the Village of Oak Creek. I'll have full directions tomorrow.

see y'all then

There are self-pay stations throughout the Sedona area where you can purchase day passes now. There's one at the Boynton Canyon TH and one at Dry Creek Road and FR152. Of course you don't get all the freebies that you'd get if you buy your pass at the Visitors Center! Also, bring cash, the Visitors Center doesn't take plastic.

Hey gang,

Where the heck is this target? Can any of you tell me the street it is on or the address for it?

Kristyn,

The Target store is SW of the intersection of I-17 and the 101 loop. Coming north on I-17 you would exit at Yorkshire and turn left (West). Turn right at the first intersection, which I believe is 27th ave. The Target will be on your left. This Target store is clearly nowhere to be found on the Target site...

I wondered why I couldn't find it on their site. Thanks!!

Actually it is on the Target site, but doesn't show up on the map at first if you search for stores in Phoenix. If you click the north link at the top of the map, it's the second one listed on the next page.

This page has the specific info for that store.

Thanks

You take great pictures. I can't get nice shots like that with my Canon Elf, only my old trusty vintage Canon AE1.

Thanks all, my wife dog and me all had a great time. It was great to match people with the posts I've been reading. Looking forward to the next hike.

Jaime or Kristyn,

Did either of you leave a Sedona map in my truck? I found one that doesn't look familier (it's not dirty and/or ripped up).

It's probably mine. I'll get it from you next time we meet for a hike. Thanks!
