Looking really for a car shuttle or drop off driver along with fellow hiker(s) if it works out. I have several sources in San Diego I can hit up but one guy I know for sure won't do the trek. It'll be moderately rough bushwacking, illegal immigrant avoiding, rock hopping, etc. Here are a couple of links to check out. Be sure and look at some of the pics.
This date can be changed. A lot depends on how my ankle is holding up also. It's short distance wise but I plan on making in an overnight to see some of the sights. Jerry Shad in his book Afoot and Afield in San Diego rates this as a five star hike.

CANCELED: I'm out at this time. May change, but I doubt it. If still interested Randal Schulhauser has a trip in that area that weekend--PM him.

Sorry to hear you are on the I.R. Letty
If anyone interested in something other than the Superbowl that weekend, I'll be heading to the area with some of my "usual suspects" =>

Not sure I can make this now, Randal... Told the wife she could make plans (she's a Superbowl fanatic...). If I can squeak out super-early on Saturday, I could meet you at the campsite and stay til Sunday.... Stay tuned.

So my friend and I are still on for this...we will be out near the S2/Carrizo Gorge entrance tomorrow pm. If anybody else wants to join look for a red crew cab Dodge diesel truck with matching shell. We are going to attempt a long day/night hike taking advantage of the almost full moon but will be prepared for an over night stay in the 30' degree temps if needed...

My friend Scotty "C" and I managed to pull this hike off in about 12 hours. I posted a full trip report and photos on my website here

For anyone else who goes out there, bring a saw and not clippers, they were worthless. Right now is a good time to go, there was very little water making route finding much easier. All in all a great trip, thanks to Letty for kicking this off to begin with!

We looked down into the gorge from the RR, and were glad we weren't bushwacking it there.

It looked like a very busy day up on the tracks, we saw several groups walking up there. I wonder if anyone saw or heard us below....hummm....
