@Dave1
You can probably hike it faster than some people run it.

The other night, my niece casually mentioned that she has signed up for the upcoming February 2015 Lost Dutchman run. It's almost the day of her birthday, so guess it's her birthday present. ;)
Anyway, since she lives in Oregon, she plans to fly here and we'll drive down to Lost Dutchman State Park the day before and camp.

Suggestions for short hikes and/or post-run food options in the area? Especially good Mexican - ever since moving to Oregon, she mentions frequently how terrible the Mexican food is there.

My husband and I will be doing the 10K.. I walk it though.. they have a good post run feed for the runners... only place I have seen breakfast burritos... We would like to know also where else is good to eat... we end up just going down the 60 to some other area normally to a chain restaurants... My husband is running the 1/2 marathon in Sedona Jan 31st then the full Phoenix Marathon on Feb 28th.. so isn't going to run the full Marathon on Lost Dutchman even though it is one of his favorite fulls... I will be walking the 10Ks at each of these events... 2015s LDM is on the 15th of Feb. So a heads up to all the people for closure of Peralta road to the trailhead from Hwy 60...

@Dschur They allow you to walk? Maybe I will sign up then instead of looking for a short hike to do while my niece runs.
I only jog once a year - at our Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. ;)

I always walk and since the race is on the same course as the marathon you have 7 hrs to complete it! :) The 10K and half are an out and back one. On the last half of the marathon.. only the marathon is a point to point.. I am not a runner but keep up with the woggers.. my goal is always not to be the last one in...

I wanted to do it this year but am not able. It's not because Kelly kicked my Tortoise butt last year, really. :o :)

Did the 8K trail run this year and it was fun. Yes, I actually had fun running - that has never happened before. Maybe because it was a trail instead of the boring sidewalk or frightening road.
Either way, I am already trying to convince my niece to run the half marathon next year so I can go do the trail run again.

@Tortoise Hiker Don't know about last year, but it sure was perfect weather this year. Would have been a good year to avenge your loss ;)
