Broken Ankle

Well I broke my ankle 8 days ago and I am still waiting for surgery. I meet tomorrow with the surgeon to see if the swelling is down enough to do the surgery. I know they will be putting in metal plates and screws on both sides of my ankle. And I am not ready to sit and do nothing. So what I am asking is that anybody who has had this surgery how long before I can at least walk on it or even drive.

Do you mind saying what type of procedure you had done?

Take care of yourself. My recovery, though going well, won't be complete real soon.

Larry,
I thought you had a screw loose, but it looks like all 13 are tight! That's quite a bit of hardware my friend.

Man, when you break something you don't screw around do you?

Sending good thoughts!

I hope you expect to get better? In an effort to help my recovery along, today I started to try to learn to unicycle again using poles for assistance. Gotta build up a little leg strength to get that skill back, and it certainly won't be an easy process. I hope healing goes well for you.

Hope it goes well. Don't be ashamed to speak up if you'd like assistance with getting well back into hiking. My wife has helped with me, and through self training now I'm even almost back to unicycling.

I will be as soon as I can walk on it. I am so bored being home I really need to be outside in the desert. This is a great time to hike, but I may have to wait until June to get out. Well at least it will be warm.

Care to post an occasional update on how your healing/recovery is going? My wife the doc would probably tell anyone that I'm a perfect text book example of how to recover from a head injury. Given, I've been working really hard at it and getting results, but I long for the day when I can once again know what it's like to actually feel normal again. Liz assures me that day is coming.

Well I went to the doctor yesterday. My ankle is looking better. Next week the stitches come out, yes.
Hopefully I will be able to start putting wait on it and maybe walk a little.
