There's still snow on Mount Baldy.

It's like an old Rusty Warren song..."Bounce Your Haboobies."
Rusty Warren... now, knowing who she is really dates you...! I had that album!

Monsoon 2013 is upon us! (At least according to the stupid new way they do it). Flagstaff even tallied a hundredth of an inch of rain today just to make it official.

It looked and felt like monsoon season in the San Juans today. I thought, "June is supposed to be a nice dry month with nice weather before the July to August and early September monsoon period". Then I thought, "Maybe September?".

Drizzled a bit between Holbrook and St. Johns today on my way home from the Canyon. Washed all the Kaibab dust off the vehicle!

Let's go Flagstaff! 98 is within reach! (I think its first-ever 100 is still safe).

I am hoping for a 120 here in PHX though. : rambo :

It's hot. That's all it is.

You'd think that Arizonans being concerned about the heat is a little like Eskimos being concerned about the snow... But hey, we gotta have something to talk about!

I'm wondering when monsoon flow will take hold. I thought it was supposed to rain earlier over here, and I remember rain in the past in these parts by this time. We'll see.

Forecast for White Mountains starting Friday 6/28 is for some thunderstorm activity without much, if any, precip. On NWS, the forecast is the same all the way through Wed. 7/3.

It's exceedingly dry, so of course we have to hope for precipitation, not just a lot of wind and dry lightning.

At which point, beginning of monsoon, I feel the obsessive need to remind people how to remember to spell "lightning." (The common misspelling, "lightening," has to do with WEIGHT not WEATHER.)

Well, the hot weather models really screwed the pooch so far. Today is running about 10-degrees below the forecast. They're still holding on to the predictions for tomorrow though.

I like this heat, but don't want to hike in it. The A trail is too hot in it, especially with the sun and white limerock.

According to my car's thermometer it's 120, was out of beer and forced to trek outside.
