Second time in less than 2 weeks my wife's commute home from work has been delayed for flash floods.

Same spot right outside of Manitou. View of the 24 heading up through Ute Pass. Closed both directions this time.

Wow! I've been through there a few times, but never when it's like that.

@Outdoor Lover
They had rescuers get people out. No injuries reported that I've seen. She said there were about twenty cars that were half covered in mud and stuck. No one was pulling the Az. driving through the wash stunt. The debri and mud came down the mountain w/out warning (other than t-storms in the area) and trapped the cars as they were driving up the pass.

They had to clear another area up the road by our house as well before opening the road back up. Snow plows have a dual purpose here.

It is a very rare year when Lake Havasu, Bullhead, Needles, Blythe, etc. receive measurable monsoon rains before PHX.

My wife showed me this from the flash flood/ mudslide the other day. You tube has numerous videos of this guy going for a ride. This is what happens when a gazette camera guy gets to close to the shot. Darn lucky

He's lucky only his car got totaled. I'm pretty sure that is the car my wife got a picture of on my previous post.

He must have gotten hung up on something...Probably a good thing, looks like he could have had a much worse ride than that! Wow!!!

Weird, out of season retrograding low from back east bringing eastern filth and lots of rain with it over the early part of the coming week. Large rain totals predicted for the southern plains and SW.

Great backpacking trip along the lower Black River for three days--it rained and thundered all around my group, but no rain on our parade. River came up a lot, was pretty muddy from Wallow Fire runoff.

As rain again pummels the Bradshaws today, I looked up the totals so far this week.
It's been a good monsoon for that area so far.

Had some passing showers this afternoon. Not much of a total, I think, but something good for the desert.

My neighbor informs me his rain gauge recorded 1/4 of an inch of rain yesterday. Not a lot, but it is for here. Amazing how that small amount of rain made it feel so humid.

I don't think I'm tough enough to head out this afternoon in a thunderstorm on my mountain bike, pulling a BOB trailer. It is really cutting loose right now with rain, lightning, etc. However, it's still early, and the sun could come out and there is a possibility I could still go today on my BOB trailer Mini-Adventure.

A couple of good hard rains here lately. washes by the mines really flowing. I think I'll head south toward the Hellsgate tomorrow as the high in Nogales is supposed to be 82 with 60% chance of rain and they've had quite a bit of rain already. Saw on the news I think Douglas has already broken it's record for rainfall.

After a pretty frustrating week, it finally cut loose at my house today. 1.33 inch in an hour, with 1.20 falling in 30 minutes between 3 and 3:30 this afternoon.

Just got about 10 minutes of heavy hail at the house. T-storms all afternoon. No flash flooding on the highway.
