What are your views on naturists/nudists? Has anyone come upon a naked hiker/camper and what was the outcome ?

A little aside on this thread....The other day I had this nice older couple (older than me) in our gallery. They were Zonies and we started talking about hiking. Well of course I brought up this wonderful site, so I was showing them the home page and how to find hikes. Then I go...and over here is a great forum that is full of useful info..........When front and center was this thread's title.......
Nude hiking?...
Ahem
Well....
It was an odd moment.
They were still impressed with the site and will check it out further......

@Alston Neal
I'm sure you waxed, most eloquently, on the diverse nature of the site and the myriad other sources of valuable information... ;)

Gosh now that you mention it, I forgot to bring up poop tubes, wag bags, guns and taco tatoos.

Feel free... I'm not going to touch it! The visual you induced with the mere mention almost caused me to gouge my eyes out!

I just talked with the District Ranger for Grand Canyon and he assured me that it IS illegal to be nude in public view within the park and that they do routinely issue citations. Apparently, usually to bikers...

Somehow this topic has suddenly become deadly boring. It seems most people who practice nudity in the outdoors these days are out to make a point or get attention. To me, that is just so incredibly boring. I could give a hoot.

Well, it looks like you've been a member close to five years and this thread about nude hiking has been going on for about seven and you're just now gettin' bored with it... hmmm...

Well, I guess I don't get bored that quickly.
Actually I was sort of bored with it quite awhile ago, but then someone brought it back again. Being a sucker for a conversation, I just jumped in again.
I promise I will stay off the nude hiking thread from now on.
(I am not really very good at keeping promises, though.)

what is wrong with you people. I said twice that it is based on local government and is the duty of the Sheriff office to enforce it. I lived there so I know what the heck I am talking about. I said before it has been a legal battle in brevard for years, but apollo is legal and that is cape canveral. I am so tired of this page and the retards on here. Volusia county could care less, brevard does, so half of cape canvernal is divide. The park has legal beaches I been to them many times, and brevard has lost oit on the tourism because of it, and has moved to Satillite beach. you can be nude on the national park, they will not enforce it at all, but the sheriff office does patrol the beach there because of several rapes and murderers. If that never happen, then it would still be legal in Brevard. BUT THE PARK RANGERS WILL NOT ARREST YOU AT ALL THERE. IT IS NOT THERE RIGHT TO.
I lived in NYC as a Butcher and I go to the beaches there a lot when i was there. Sandy hook is so nude. Cherry Hill is famous for open free sex on the beach, which is Fire island national Seashore. I spent many days nude there with my russian girlfriends. Even the state park on fire island is nude. I know what the heck i am talking about.

Ok, so what kind of question is that? I am done talking about nudity, I was a hippie from the 60's through the 80's. Nuff said about that! But, where do you go to the bathroom? Are you serious or are you just kidding around? My mother taught me to dig a cat hole, and squat over it, and then cover up everything with dirt and rocks, when I was about 3. That was in about 1956.

This may be normal manners in Florida or NY, but here in Arizona is is frowned upon. Especially on this forum. See:
Forum rules wrote:If you have an opinion then state it. Supporting your opinion with facts is best. Responding to members you disagree with is permitted if courteous.
I said twice that it is based on local government and is the duty of the Sheriff office to enforce it. I lived there so I know what the heck I am talking about.
And my wife works for a park, and she knows what she is talking about. And I brought information from the National Park Service. One would hope they know what they are talking about on their own land.
I am so tired of this page and the retards on here.
Again, calling us a bunch of retards is not good manners in Arizona.

Look at the links I posted again and carefully read instead of having a knee-jerk response. It mentions beaches in Brevard county. Not the whole park. I doubt Brevard has lost that much tourism, but if you've got a source, I'd like to see it.
You keep talking about one or two parks back east that I, at least, could care less about. We are talking about other parks. In Glen Canyon, LE rangers will approach you if you are nude (or topless) and they have a complaint. Not Sheriff Officers, Law Enforcement Rangers. If you refuse to cover up, you will be either cited or arrested. Don't believe me? Think there's something wrong with me, and I'm a retard? Come on up and try! We're not that far away from Phoenix (4 hours), and we have some beautiful beaches. If I'm wrong, I'll buy you a six pack of beer.

Congratulations?
I know what the heck i am talking about.
So do I. So do Grand Canyon rangers. You assume you are the only one with nude hiking experience AND the only one who has talked to officials about it. Go back through the thread and you'll see that's not true. Heck, Liz and I can ask about nude hiking at the BCO at GCNP this Saturday if you want more data. If it is based on county regs, as you state, then perhaps you should quit talking about the two examples that are on the other side of the country and worry more about the Arizona regulations.

Robert, even if they say it's ok at the BCO, I promise not to do it!

HAZ is normally a civil place, and I like that. This isn't a run-of-the-mill mudslinging cesspool, but it will only remain so if people have some common decency.

The same goes for me Liz!
