"Wallow Fire" in Bear Wallow Wilderness

Lots of activity in Springerville this morning, with the Prescott Hot Shots arriving at Safeway for a snack, and other buses full of firefighters seen on the highway heading for the "Wallow Fire" in Bear Wallow Wilderness Area, south of Hannagan. The smoke is not that visible, although my daughter was over at Hulsey yesterday and saw the smoke. I was up at Big Lake early this morning and could see only a haze of smoke south of there, not a big plume. I think winds too strong for it to plume up much. I'm back in Flag now, so I won't get the firsthand news any more.

Oh, and no campfires or charcoal grills allowed in the campgrounds since last night in Apache-Sitgreaves NF (Big Lake, Hannagan, etc.) I think stoves still allowed. Not sure about non-campgrounds.

Here's a news story on the Wallow Fire, but as of this writing it has not made it to inciweb yet. (Maybe tomorrow?)

Yeah, I meant that it was unrealistic for him to be conscious and mobile after being so close to an explosion that big. The producers were making noise earlier this year about how they were just getting warmed up, and next year will get really interesting. The idea of Mike coming back is interesting. Losing a powerful foil like Gus creates too much of a vacuum. I thought it might be filled by the authorities really starting to close in, but there are some other possibilities. Mike or Saul would probably have contacts eager to capitalize on newly open territory.

I think it's either a Mike and Walter, or something with the DEA and Walter. The next season is supposed to be the last one, so it should be a good one.

And all this conversation has what to do with ""Wallow Fire" in Bear Wallow Wilderness ?
Sorry, I just dislike seeing threads going so far off course...

True. I don't really care, though. I started another thread to tell people what is OPEN since Wallow Fire, but that one didn't become popular.

The Wallow Fire burned very little of Bear Wallow Wilderness, by the way. Most of it is still intact. It was named that because it started there, and then went on to burn over 538,000 acres. Bear Wallow Wilderness isn't very big, anyway, only 11,000 acres.

No one seems to have issues with the weather thread going off, or so many others. Besides, the Wallow is out.
