Yes, due to stuff I was doing around the house I never quite packed up to go to Kachina Trail until after lunch. And went outside, looked at the sky, heard the thunder and said, "Hmm, don't think so!" I am not in the mood to get wet or dodge lightning bolts today.

And............
HERE IT COMES!

I just went out and took my kayak off its wheels and turned it upside down. I can leave most windows open for the time being, plus my front door is wide open. (Remember, I live in a motorhome.) It's showing up in fits and starts. Hope we get a gully washer for at least 15 minutes, with all the bells and whistles...

Edit #2 (to avoid too many posts) it is actually RAINING now! I'll have to decide what I will need to close. So far, can leave door open and most windows. I love the sound of it on my roof. Sort of like being in a cabin with a tin roof.

I would like some rain. Widespread rain. Granted I have never really been in the Tucson desert this long to notice a lot about it, but it looks the worst I have ever seen it. However, that isn't very fair to it as Alamo had a fair amount of rain in later April from a thunderstorm, so it was relatively green over there.

Miss being in Tucson for the monsoons, some of the best lightning shows in the country. Fun to drive up to Mt Lemmon and watch the storms roll in.

Good news for that San Juan Fire, if it's raining in that area. Hope it is!

Some nice lightning south of Tucson in Mexico, on my way down from Mount Lemmon after dark.

Used to live right off Catalina Hwy, about two miles from the base of Mt Lemmon. It's a great place to watch the storms roll in.

Oh, well, some of us can't afford Oro Valley. ;) Rain just started in the area west of The Cholla and Orange Grove.

Jim: The photos also show how dry the Tucson area is right now, as you had been telling me. Hope it all greens up!

Here in Williams it looks like rain again. I bought caulking today for one of my window frames on my motorhome, which was leaking, and caulked it, so we'll see if it helps. I also bought Gorilla Tape to fix a cracked vent cover temporarily. Right now I have a tarp and rocks to cover it. Oh, yeah, I'm slummin' all right, but sure enjoy being a "full-timer" as they call those of us who live in RVs.

Nice little thundershower in Southwest Tucson. 0.12 inch rain, wind to about 30 mph, and temp drop from a high of 105 to 77 (82 now). And away we go! :D

Gray overcast this morning and humid. I guess this might be a surge day. Maybe the Catalinas and Rincons will get some decent rainfall. Somehow it missed them yesterday.

I think I must have driven the last vehicle up 89A from Sedona very late this afternoon. It was pouring rain, really coming down when I left Sedona in my work vehicle to go up Oak Creek Canyon. My boss was a few minutes delayed by our customers, but only about 5 minutes behind me. I got into Oak Creek Canyon and came upon a line of 5 cars going very slowly due to the heavy rain and due to a lot of water on the road and a little debris. I followed along. No cars came up behind me the entire time going up to the rim, and the only cars coming down were cops!

On the top of the rim I saw I'd had a call from my boss. She'd arrived at Slide Rock and had been turned back by a road block due to concerns about flooding.

Since I never saw anyone behind me in the slow line of cars I have to assume I drove the last vehicle up Oak Creek this evening.

It was pouring rain, so I took 89 to Flag instead of 17 at the top of the hill. I then took Rt 66 west as far as I could. By the time it merged with 40 I was out of the storm.

It's been drizzling in Williams for about an hour, but we've had no heavy downpour so far.

Oh! Yes, I saw a bit of the Slide Fire area. Not much of it right along 89, although you can see some burned areas on the cliffs.
