The precip graphic forecast has changed quiet a bit over the last few days, and the focus if precip is now over AZ, and western Colorado, having let off of NM except for a band along the south. Someone will get rain, I guess.

I can't believe this thread isn't at the top of the page right now! Maybe Hurricane Norbert is going to end up being a dud, when it comes to rain in SoCal and in Arizona, but down in Tucson they are waiting to see what happens. Some people remember Oct. 1-2, 1983, when about 7 inches of rain fell, result of a Pacific hurricane. Tucson flooded very badly. In fact it was an island for about a week and no one could drive in or out, as I recall from the stories. I didn't move there until 1986. I do remember the 1993 flood, though.

As much as I would like to see the storm of the century, we just don't have the right conditions.

Well it is coming down right now in Deer Valley. I even stopped on E Pinnacle Peak Rd to let a Western Diamond Rattlesnake cross the wet roadway.

Stormed with heavy rain in north Scottsdale. I was making an airport run and saw amazing images of the haboob against the setting sun.

It's apparently been raining all night here in Apache Junction. My desert cactus plants all have a big smile on their face. My backyard is under water to the extent that I could kayak across it. Maybe I should launch, take a picture, post and have a trip report of the cruise.

I dunno Randy. Elizabeth might not be so far off...
Phoenix is up to a 50-year storm so far, and it's quite possible that the airport will break the all-time record for rainfall by the end of today.
There's some epic flooding out there.
Lots of 3 and 4+ inch totals across the valley, especially in east Phoenix.

Compare with Tropical Storm Norma in 1970, the entire state got slammed.

Glad someone is seeing something from this storm (excessive though it may be). Still been a dud here in Tucson. Still hoping however. And I like the talk of perhaps another storm off the Baja next week.

In East Mesa we have 1.5" of standing water in our backyard (the house is up on a slab so no flooding worries... yet) and the rain gauge shows over 2" since 1 am this morning... and it is STILL a steady rain.
I'm loving it! I might just go out barefoot and let the mud squeeze between my toes. (Wow, it's been a LONG time since I've done that)

Both washes on my property are running over a foot deep and the rain gage is showing 2.70 inches since 5 am and climbing. Fortunately the house is up higher then the surrounding terrain so unless the roof leaks it should stay dry.
My old house the backyard would flood almost to the base of the rear door but it never made it inside. I ended up doing the perforated pipe along with digging a drywell and after that the flooding stopped I also installed rain gutters on the back of the house and channeled that water away from the rear of the yard. It was still working when I stopped living in the property full time 3 years ago. Hopefully it is still working today otherwise I am sure I will be hearing from the tenants soon.

I'm stuck in the west valley. Tried to drive my girlfriend into work and every road seems to be closed or flooded. According to the news we have received almost 4 inches of rain since midnight around my neighborhood. Left my cooler out on the porch to air out last night and the entire thing is filled to the rim. The local park is totally underwater, trying to figure out a way to get my canoe down there.

Just drove by some of the dairy farms along Broadway and the water is up past the porch on half of the houses. It's all running off from the cow pastures and is manure colored. At least the water coming into your house is somewhat clean.

Only a very light sprinkle in Williams, which stopped quickly, but very cloudy and damp. I heard from rwstorm about the heavy rain in the Tri-State area, so started looking for more info. Big Sandy River spiked at 4,000 and then the gauge apparently broke. Kingman people are posting videos of heavy flash flooding. Stockton Hill Road is washed out (again). Haven't heard yet what happened in Needles or Bullhead.

east phoenix here
over 3" at sky harbor so far, which is probably very close to rainfall amounts in my hood
rain since 2:30 this morning
balcony door is open to enjoy it
can't see camelback four miles away
some unusual flight paths out of sky harbor
radar shows no sign of it letting up anytime soon
now, what to do today?
