went swimming at tonto narrows this weekend

! for those who are unfamiliar with it, it's a excellent swimming hole just south of payson. it's a really great place but there's more litter there than any other outdoor spot i can think of. looks like bank one ballpark after a d'backs game. also at the narrows, a group of 8-10 teenagers who were having fun and chucking their beer cans in the creek. i felt like an old fart, but i went over and politely asked them to knock it off and pick up their trash. so i'm wondering, what would my fellow azhikers do in this situation? if you saw people trashing your favorite spots, would you go about your business or would you say something?

: have a good one!

Yes, I am pouting here.... I would love to be there with you guys... It would be a great way to meet you all! Due to my work schedule I will be spending the next three days in an airconditioned building surrounded by desrving needy people who can't take care of them selves... I do appreciate the gravity of that situation but would much rather be outside with you guys! Have a good time and I hope one day I can join in with you to help make a differnce out there in the wilderness we all love so much!

A friend of mine wanted to know if dogs are OK on the Narrows trail? I didn't see a puppy on the description - are they not permitted?

I take mine usually... At the TH I've never seen anything saying otherwise. Don't know if that actually helps you or makes me a law snubbin' scoundrel. I haven't ever seen a ranger in the area to ask but it would really surprise me if it was against some regulation...as long as a dog isn't uncontrolable and you pick up after the pooch, people don't seem to mind.

By now you should all be on your way. Have a great time as I'm sure you all will. I'll make it next time. My daughter went up to Oak Creek yesterday. She said there were piles of trash everywhere. Maybe one place to put on the list.

Awesome day everyone! It was a pleasure to meet you all. I was happy to see such a big turnout. I really do think we made an impact. Thanks to all who got the ball rolling.
Joe B was absolutely correct with the Narrows write-up... lot's of bouldering, swimming, and I even threw in some bushwacking myself.

Really a neat place.
Nice pics Kenny. You're a madman with that thing.
I'll post a few pics if they turned out ok after the beating my camera took.

I would love to have such a chance to meet you all and make a positive impact on the wilderness I love! A lot of people talk about it... you guys did it! THANK YOU!

hmm... Just got a call from a person in Pine. Turns out she read an article in Friday's Payson Roundup and wanted information on where the Narrows are.
Funny - she didn't call before the clean-up.
If anyone can get their hands on that edition I would like to see it. I couldn't find anything on the Online Edition.
