$8+ gas by June?

Gas is up to $4.50 in Maranara, and I'm sure well over that in the Valley and Flagstaff. Some places out of state are already well over $6. However, in Arizona we are still not yet seeing $5+ as a common price, if at all.
Should this change, will you be likely to alter or change summer travel plans?
I'm considering dropping a trip to the Cabeza Prieta in the next month due to prices, as I can still go next winter if they drop. However, this was in a framework of prices dropping in a few months and prices being more reasonable come summer. If gas around here is $8 on average by June, $4.50 will seem cheap, and I will wish I at least did my desert trip.
My goal this summer was to go to the White Mountains in California, a region not exactly known for cheap gas, so I probably wouldn't do that if it was at $9 or $10/gallon in western Nevada and far east California. Wouldn't drive to eastern Montana or North Dakota, either. Maybe I would visit Flagstaff, instead? Maybe I would just go to the Angle Orchard and gorge on peaches?

But... how many folks have 1,000 gallon tanks laying around to "stock up" with enough to get through till prices come down, if ever?

@CannondaleKid
You mean you don't have a 10,000 gallon tank outback? Oh, well, just do what Colbert says and buy a $60,000 e vehicle, and eat cake, nothing but cake.

Ethanol blends have a storage "shelf life " of only 1-3 months. Standard gasoline 3-6 months tops. There are stabilizers on the market that can be added that claim to protect the octane rating from degradation for up to 12 months.

I think this is the correct thread for this.

Agreed... I was simply pointing out the gross inability for folks to stock up on gas.
(BTW, among other products, at one time, seemingly a few lives ago I sold fuel stabilizers... so I was aware of that issue)

My cousin in Norway paid $10.27/gallon yesterday. But I can't figure out why either fact is relevant to me.

I wonder what it was 1 week ago, or 1 month ago? It's up $1 in the last week near me. I thought $5 was going to be a lot when I posted this thread. Funny.

before long, we may be longing for the good old days when gas was only $5 per gallon

Has anybody here paid (or seen) $5 for regular unleaded gas in Arizona yet?
That link I posted to earlier answers the convenient questions of what it was yesterday, last week, last month, etc. It can even be narrowed down to specific counties, cities or areas within the state if you're interested in more granular data.

I think that some of the stations near airport car rental returns are charging over $5 per gallon, but of course that is an aberration. Based on a quick survey of gas prices in Phoenix on gas buddy, it seems like $4.59 is the most common price right now

I had to update the thread title since $5 is coming sooner than expected, and the high water (gas) mark may be closer to $10 than $5. Widespread $4.50 in Marana, probably going to be over $5 next week if the trend continues.

Oh, so $5 is already here. Wow. I paid $1.99 when I moved last December. December of 2020. Just 15 months ago.

Yeah that one is always out of the park. I'm not sure what else they're selling there but it's gotta be more than just gasoline!
