3 Days in "Paradise" with The Hippy

November 9/10/11 2012 (Fri/Sat/Sun)
I'll be leading a troupe into the Supes for 3 days of fun, hiking, exploring (and cartwheels, can't forget the cartwheels!) So of course everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us.
Day 1 (friday)
Roughly 2 1/2 hour drive from Peoria (where I live) so we'll plan on a 4am depart from home for an early start.
Depending on who all will join us I may opt to leave the night before (because I love night hiking

) but we'll take a vote.
We will begin at Reavis Trailhead (Reavis Ranch Via North #109) it's roughly a 9 mile hike to Reavis Ranch, there we will set up base camp
Day 2 (saturday)
From our base camp at Reavis Ranch we will head out to visit Circlestone and finish it up with a group bagging of Mound Mountain's peak at 6,266 feet. Shouldn't take the entire day to do this but we'll use the entire day to explore.
Day 3 (sunday)
Lazy morning of exploring the area followed by the 9 mile hike back to the vehicle(s) at Reavis Trailhead and home in time for supper!
3 days in the Supes, doesn't get any better than this....well, unless you're Elisha Reavis a century or so ago...

I'll just find another reason to yell at Haley, then... I'm sure I can come up with something

Singlehandedly causing cellular companies to rethink the logic of "unlimited" text messaging?

It's like my superhero introduction "Singlehandedly causing cellular companies to rethink the logic of "unlimited" text messaging and cartwheeling across the world, it's Super Hippie!" I really should get back to work now...

Kyle, Vince and Frank - Try to let me know within a week of the event if you want a ride with Larry and me to Reavis. I can take two of you but not three. Well unless everyone in the back really like each other
We'll probably leave sometime between 6 and 9am on Friday morning.

Alright well I'm 95% sure I'll be able to make this one now. Had my interview today and I don't start til nov. 19th.. I'll probably be hanging out at camp day 2 as well since peaks have a tendency to blow out my knees. Wanted to see if anyone is driving from the north phoenix area that I can catch a ride with, or if the road is tame enough for my 88 volvo. If it is I can drive and take a few people if anyone is on this side of town. Now I'm excited!

Dave, i live in peoria, i'll be heading down to tempe to catch my ride so might be able to pick you up, if that's ok with the driver anyway. I'll pick their brain and let you know what's up.

Ialso want to point out that by my inaccurate calculations we are coming dangerously close to our 15 person wilderness limit. I do believe if my usual group and DB and his 3 friends come that puts us at 11... first come first serve!

I'm starting a new job on 10-22 and still not sure if I can make it and leave on Friday. So I'll stay a "cool kid" for now as interested. I might just backpack in from Rogers Trough on Saturday but that depends on if I can get a friend to join me. So I'll let you know. If I hike in from the south, I'll be my own wilderness party!!!!!

@John9L
I will let you know ASAP. I've asked for the 3 day weekend from work and my possible out of town guest should know very soon if she's coming for a visit.

I heard a rumor that Chumley has hired a mule pack train to set up his Cold Beer, Water & Ice concession at the half way point.

@Oregon Hiker Or with his super-accurate iPhone GPS, rain down a helicopter drop at a precise location 5 miles prior....
Chumley...is vodka on the menu again? I think I'm ready to expand my alcohol resume...
If 11+ are going, you're going to need a mule train just to haul the booze...maybe two trains since John is going...

there may still be water in the spring at the bottom of Paradise Canyon, along with an old corral and some cowboy junk left behind. Possibly, likely JF ranch ware.
since the description includes "paradise" i'd hope you check out this place, albeit it's in the opposite direction of circlestone. I've seen both, i'd rate the Paradise/Rough canyon/Frog tanks loop in high marks. Pencil that loop in to your calendar after you do this nice scheduled trip, you wont be sorry. ;P

Tewa, is there vodka in this spring? Then I think half our crew would make it out that way.
I was just wondering when this backpacking trip turned into a desert party, or was that just implied from the start?

this spring at paradise flows from an Arizona Wilderness.. i doubt it looks like Superstition Stout, but if you close your eyes hard enough.. John might sneak in a tasty surprise. coffee, that is.
Don't let Rough Canyon scare you! it's just a drainage in the middle of nowhere. nothing to worry about, Kyle.

Alright, I'm in - probably going to leave early Friday afternoon and pack into camp around sunset, leave the light on for me. (A PM if you will be on the north or south would be helpful).
If anyone is interested in carpooling at that time, shoot me a message.
