About 10" this morning at my home in Payson from this storm. Shoveled the driveway made a couple of snowman, shoulder to sore to throw snowballs but I iced it up by taking my coat and shirt off making snow angels.

What a mess driving this morning!--Out Sahuarita road to hike on part of the AZT for snow pics, heard a wreck happen then the sirens about 10 min later. Drove a little on Hwy 83 headed south and encountered three vehicles off the road in about a 3 mile stretch. Everybody ok, one plowed up some bushes and was waiting for a wrecker, one I pulled back on the hwy with a little tug and one guy gave a ride to a high point so he could get cell service, his vehicle was on it's lid in the ditch. I turned around then and drove home.

@RedRoxx44 Wow! Hooray for a good samaritan and an adventurous start to the new year. Just imagine how much worse the situation could have been with Rosemont's mining trucks barreling down the road every 7 minutes. I shudder to think.

Ski the Lemmon is open for skiing, which may be the first time in years they have been.

Looks like more weather is coming in. Not a bad year for rain in the desert in western Arizona. We should have a fine wildflower display.

Hope you are right; anything that gets me out of Tucson makes me happy!

Tucson has had what seems like a very wet winter, so far. I really wonder what the next few months will be like. The recent rain that fell last week was largely unnoticed and did not touch most of the state, but the basin had wide spread 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch totals, depending on location.

My expectation is for a great flower show around Tucson, and probably north on SR 77, west in the Supes and so on, probably in the Estrellas, and hopefully in the various ranges west of here, headed out towards southern California. Probably not so much in the desert of southern California, but we'll see.

Rain in the forecast didn't happen in Needles today. I just got back from a very sunny, albeit windy, bicycle ride over across the river at the marsh. Sure am glad for this time of year in the desert. It just washes my blues away. Days are getting longer, sun is shining most days, and the sky here is very big and wide. The sunshine reflection on river and lakes is very colorful. The whole scene is a real anti-depressant, especially when exercising in the midst of it all.

I absolutely love all this Rain, but I have to say, that "Slim" Chance really really sucked today.....I think I'm done believing anything that Weathermen have to say...I either take Gear for an All Day Rain or I just don't go anymore...Today was ridiculous....It was even trying to change to Snow at around 4300 Feet.... ](*,)

Well that storm was a bust. Already better than last winter, but still not as good as my first winter here - which was not even stellar.
I keep hearing about the winter of '09 at GRCA ... feet of snow dumped at a time, never saw bare ground until late Spring ... I want that!

Deeply disturbing winter storms and precipitation aside, I am loving this warm up. Mid 70s in January, it is hard to get much better in the 48! So nice to be out of NM and that cold, cold winter weather of the Tularosa Basin! 50 for the high? Bbbbrrrrr! :scared: Bring on the global warming!

Since California shows no signs of drought improvement, despite the climate prediction center's continued forecast for above normal precip for the next 3 months, have we had enough rain and snow, and cool downs this winter, to support an abundance of flowers and pretty colors? What about shiny objects? When can Tucson (since Phoenix has already had one) expect an 80+ degree day? I can predict the sun angle and day length, but not when it will be warm and toasty!

I don't think that's a prediction. It's just a recitation of fact.

@chumleyThe greater point stands, but yes, I do merely reference a program with the data in it.
