I've been PMing David_Allen_3 about this warm and sunny weather, all day. Isn't it great? The weather, not my harassment of David.

Woke up to about 4" of snow! :y: Roads are horrible no cars moving on the highway. Sarrah is back home after bumping guardrail to avoid several cars in a pile-up. :o

It was a bit of humor, since I liked the post, but we all know my feelings on snow. ;) Actually, 4 more inches is good for CO, since their winter dies a month ago, and most basins are running about 80% of normal, at best.

Ironically, California is finally forecast to get a few weak, but late season Gulf of Alaska Lows, with low 3000 to 3500 foot snow levels, and up to 1 foot of snow in the northern Sierra, over the next 5 days or so. Better late, than never. Maybe, it is an indication of the ridge dying, and next winter will feature many of these lows, or maybe it is just a fluke.

Oh no! I've been able to avoid driving in snow most of this year. No matter how careful you are, there's always somebody making in more dangerous.

Winter may finally have broken here in NJ. This is the second day in a row of temperatures above average. That's after two months of almost continuous 15-20 degrees below average. Now it's brush fire season in the Meadowlands and the Pines down south until the plants wake up.

March and April tend to be our big snow months in our town. Last year we got 13 inches on Mother's Day and we have had snow in May every year we've been here.

We finally busted out of the icebox last weekend. Our last snowbank will probably be gone before May Day.

I've been very lucky so far this year. The only snow mine eyes have seen this winter season has been from a distance--tops of San Jacinto, San Gorgonio, Palomar, etc., while I was down below, still wearing my Tevas.

It hasn't stopped snowing today and the forecast has just been changed to 8-12" overnight. Tomorrow's laps may be in snowshoes or on my splitboard with skins.

I'm happy to know that I don't know what a splitboard is.

It's a snowboard that turns into skis. I'm pretty sure it snowed a foot overnight. Müesli went out and the snow went to his shoulders. So he had to melt a spot to do his business. :sl:

I rented one 13 years ago for national Avalanche school fieldwork, but they used to be super heavy and didn't work as skis or snowboard very well. You don't see them very much in resorts unless they have backcountry access.

Thunder lightning hail...
I think I'll wait to shovel the drive.

Someone remarked to me recently that if you complain about the weather in Phoenix people don't say, "Well, then, you should just leave!" but if you say you hate the weather in an elitist town like Flagstaff they get all huffy and butt-chapped, and tell you to move away.

The forecast is looking favorable for some rain across the state later this week. If it holds true, it will make 3 of the last 4 years with a late April rain event. Last year, the storm even dropped the snow level under 6000. That's not in the forecast for this year though. So far it looks like totals will be light. But at this time of year, any rain is good rain!
