I guess I could sit here and complain about it from my armchair, but I'd rather drive up there and play. So if it all works out I'll post some photos when I get back.

I prognosticate that these late season lows are the affects of the developing strong El Nino, and that we will have a drier than normal summer, as in 2009, and then have well, well above normal snow and rain totals next winter, as will California, southern Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. Much like what happened in 2005 or 1998. The Peaks will have waaaay more snow than 2010, and Lake Roosevelt will be bursting at the seams with all the 2016 snow melt from the Rim and Whites.

I say this, while sipping an Italian Roast in my arm chair, and relaxing in my warm and comfortable living environment.

Oh, and there is substantial snow forecast for Colorado, just all west of the divide and mostly in the San Juans.

Rain and snow mix here at the canyon... from small little ice/snow balls to white fluffy snow to rain all in a matter of 30 minutes. Yesterday's downpour of rain/hail at approximately 9AM felt like a monsoonal storm with observed thunder and lightning in the area.

So I rode home for lunch to swap out my bike for my truck. It's looking like I made the right decision! :lol:

Would you believe there was a light shower on me over by Sabino, this afternoon? You should.

Considering the rain in San Diego and in other parts of Arizona I'm not too surprised that Yuma picked up some as well.

With more showers in the forecast for this afternoon ... some nice totals across the state so far. Generally .75" to 1.25" in the deserts around the valley. A few 1.5" + in higher elevations. Nice snow on the peaks, nordic center, forest lakes, etc. Looks like at least 2-3" on the ground most places above 7000 feet.

Next up, more on Monday/Tuesday, and yet another low pressure system next weekend. I swear it's actually still winter! :D

Prepping and painting cabins at Camp Lo Mia in the rain today. When it wasn't raining on us the snow melting on the roofs of the cabins kept us dripping wet. LOL....

Snow at the house this morning. A basin is forecast for 10-20' overnight. More flash and river flood warnings. The creek is visible from the house and running red. I'm pretty sure we are above normal for precipitation this year.

The snow season is dying hard in some places. Mrs. big_load got a little in upstate NY last week.

I'm most concerned about your creek running red. Red with what? Blood?! The situation on Colorado's roads must be out of control!

@Jim_H
It's runoff from Waldo Canyon Burn Scar. We are in the springs for baby appt. and trying to get back up canyon before road closes. Fountain creek that runs through our back yard is flooding in the springs and about 100-150' across along highway 24. Looks like some class IV+ whitewater in places. Red Rock open space is closed and flooded. Snow plows are clearing debris. We hiked Red Rock open space yesterday and the reservoir had gotten so high that it had a pretty good waterfall where it was overflowing and damaged the retaining walls directing overflow. :o The water used to divert to a catchment pond, but now has a flash flood created channel which runs along the rock all the way to a large channel next to Highway 24 which is new as well.

Some snow thunder here at Grand Canyon Village at the moment. Nothing sticking of course, but flakes were falling. Thankfully, the forecast is calling for our first 80 degree day by next Saturday.

Sheesh, crazy tour today. Glad I stopped longer at the first couple of viewpoints with my peeps because we had to run from Moran to the van, and then Lipan and Navajo Points were just socked in and hailing/raining/snowing/windy.
