Liz, you probably should be a field tester for foul weather gear as well. Send a few emails to the various equipment suppliers with a link to your posts such as this one. Might as well get paid twice for being out in the weather and get some new gear for doing it. ;)

That's a good idea. My current rain jacket is pretty new, a Marmot. But I'd be happy to try more gear!

Sheesh, crazy tour today. Glad I stopped longer at the first couple of viewpoints with my peeps because we had to run from Moran to the van, and then Lipan and Navajo Points were just socked in and hailing/raining/snowing/windy.
It has been a most unusual May. It was cloudy, overcast and raining again when I left the Canyon late this morning.

I had a p.m. tour yesterday but we managed to dodge raindrops fairly well. Today another full day tour (I haven't had a day off in about a week) and it looks all socked-in from where I sit looking north from Williams. Hope it is better than the last two days. One of these days I'll have to stop by and meet you (on one of my days off.)

This has really been a nice, or an unusual year for temperatures. Coming in to the year it was cold, but by mid-January it warmed and in Tucson it was in the high 70s most every day. 80s in February, and the same in March before starting to hit the 90s at the end of the month. Somehow, it just stopped warming! The way we were going, I was thinking it might be in the low 100s by late April, and despite an occasional day nearing that, it's been well below normal lately. I think we have have had temperatures lower than what we had in March, and more like what we had in February or even January, the last couple of weeks. It's going to be hard to suddenly go from a "hot" day yesterday in the high 80s, to normal and above normal at the end of the week.

 I would have thought you two geniuses would have gotten a deliberate misinterpretation of the statement. I'm well aware of Al Gore.

Al Gore? Watching the video confirmed to me what I had always heard his name to be. Al Bore

All good things must come to an end. With 22 of the 27 days so far this month clocking in at or below normal, it appears we are ready for a real shock back to the kind of heat we should not be surprised to have at this time of year. Oh well.
Currently PHX is running an average of 4.2 degrees below normal for the month of May. Sure has been nice while it lasted!
March averaged 7 degrees above normal, and April 1.6 above normal. So with the below normal May so far, it makes it seem as if we have had a relatively constant temperature for the last three months!

Yeah, now I can stop missing my RV spot by the river. It's actually shorts weather up here on the Rim, finally.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. Obviously, Saturday's 79 for a high is far more pleasant, but 95 or so is normal, and we sure had a nice long run of roughly the same temperatures for what seems like 3 or 4 months now.

How can we be factor out the potential influence of weather changes during the mulling period?
FWIW, I prefer cool weather, given a choice. The weather doesn't seem to care much about my preferences, though.

I'm working outside 8 hours a day here at Lake Powell and it was downright chilly with the storms rolling through over Memorial Day Weekend. The last couple days of highs in the mid-80s have been brutal in comparison. Not looking forward to the 100s at all. It'd be nice if we get an early start to the monsoon and have it get going strong in July.
