Moving to Casa Grande / Phoenix / Kayenta / Anywhere

Well, I guess I'll have to change my screen name soon. My wife and I are going to be moving to Casa Grande before the end of the year. Listing the house for sale up in Page. No job yet, kinda scary, but my wife needs to go back to school full time. Even commuting to and from UofA, with the house prices in CG we'll save money over moving to El Pueblo. Big change - this will be my first time living off The Plateau since '99. Eeek!

I might like Oregon in Summer, but March, April, October, November, December, January, February? I like growing some stuff, and you can do that in summer in the Rouge Valley, but, then there are those months I just mentioned. You have that RV, though. Believe it or not, I think I would miss summer in Phoenix, as I am one of those weirdos who like our summer. Maybe after 5 or 10 years I would like a change, but not yet.

I get the urge to try something different now and then. Hoping I can hold onto the RV as an escape hatch. Climb inside, turn on the motor, and voila, you can now live somewhere else far away!

I lived in Grants Pass MANY moons ago, and loved the area. As I recall the PCT runs near Medford. That would be nice to hike!

Thanks Gary. I have several job prospects so far, too, in Medford, Ashland & Grants Pass. One interview scheduled, one interview promised when I get there and yesterday a voice mail about another application I put in. But I can't start until May 1, because I am also taking a trip to North Carolina, most of April!!

I used to do Rogue River permitting for the BLM in 2010. Southern Oregon is great. Have fun!

Been there done that
Actually, I'm going back to the Colorado River, where I have been wintering for the past three years. I have been really homesick. Oregon is nice, but it isn't home. Next summer I will be in the high country somewhere in Arizona, I am pretty sure.
First I'll stay in Golden Valley for 2-3 weeks, staying with a friend. I have to drive my Jeep down there first, with the kayak and bicycles. (I'm not able to tow it with my rig.) Then I will fly back to Oregon to get my motorhome. I'll be back living on the riverbank in Needles, where I love to spend the winter.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. My motorhome is almost 30 years old. It made it to Oregon, but it broke down on the way, near Bakersfield. Turns out it had the ORIGINAL fuel filter and fuel pump! Amazing!
Maybe I should start a Go Fund Me! It's going to cost me a bundle to move back.
I did have quite the adventure up here. I grew a market garden of vegetables in a giant greenhouse. (Yes, other people were growing other stuff nearby, but that doesn't interest me.) Today I took 72 pounds of cucumbers, lemon cucumbers and tomatoes to the farmer's market and sold them. I also have acorn squash, string beans, melons, kale, chard, crookneck squash, etc.
Planning lots of hiking, biking and paddling adventures in the desert this winter!
