Pretty impressive over here in the Coronado neighborhood. Only downside is that the power is out. We had rain, wind and hail.

@SpiderLegs based on the radar, Coronado definitely got stuck in the worst part of it. Us in Garfield just got sideswiped a little.

I think Joe's forecast low in the 70s may come a week early.
Technically it was already in the 70s at PHX tonight ... at 7:51pm. Only in Phoenix however, can the temperature go from 77°
before 8pm
UP to 87° a few minutes
after 8pm!
It's also amazing that Sky Harbor is reporting just .37" when a gauge at 40th Street and Van Buren* is reporting 2.64" (unofficial). Even the Salt River at Runway 25L is reporting .47"
*gauge is 1/2 mile from nearest airport property. No part of the airport is more than 2.25mi from this gauge.

A long light show, lots of house-creaking wind but only .75" rain to show for it. Maybe with the high wind it was so horizontal much of it didn't make it into the gauge?

Does this mean it rained hard on Piestewa and maybe Camelback and washed away all the urine? Cause that would be awesome!
It rained at my domicile and washed the car off, which is nice. Now all of the toy dogs that the hipster weirdos and Paris Hilton-esque barbie dolls have, can have a fresh area to defile! Luxury Living!
Flagstaff closed it's September 1 to August 31 water year with 3.02 inches for August (0.09" below the mean) and 26.25" for the WY, which I believe is the most rain in that period in the last decade, at least.
It's September 1, which starts meteorologic Autumn, so break out your fall whatever. I was hoping to go to Bryce Canyon NP, but I don't think I want to drive 14 to 15 hour round trip for a 4 day weekend, and so I might do the Grand Canyon next week instead. You don't care about that, but I would almost...almost welcome a tropical storm if it meant more rain in Phoenix, simply because it cooled things down here. What have I become!?!!?!!?

Incredible damage on and around the ASU Tempe campus. The winds must have been over 50mph, and possibly near 70mph.
Trees are down on every street. Huge trees. There are branches, dirt, leaves and other litter all over Apache, Mill, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Daley Park lost several huge shade trees. Traffic lights are out and things are generally just a huge mess.
I haven't seen it like this on campus in several years!
CannondaleKid wrote:only .75" rain to show for it
That's 10% of annual rainfall. I wouldn't call that
only!

@Tough_Boots Took 12 hours for the power to come back on. It was a tough night for sleeping. Driving to work this morning I noticed a few people that were sleeping on their front porch to get a little relief.

Sea surface levels are up 50cm? That's over a foot and a half! Shouldn't the Maldives be gone by now? :STP:

I don't know about 9/23, but I'm hoping for a helluva a lot more than .25" of rain in the Sunday-Wednesday timeframe. We shall see...

It was pretty impressive down here in my new 'hood in central Phoenix. One of our trees is leaning over a good four feet and the roof on the guest house behind us is torn up. Luckily I rent and just need to call the landlord to clean things up.
