 We should always do what someone else tells us, as they always know better, especially when it comes to our plans and the conditions we want.

It won't break 40F today here in the upper left corner of Jersey. It's the first cold day of autumn. We had 80s not that long ago. The cool weather makes for good hiking, but I wouldn't mind some 50s and 60s before winter.

Blue skies blew away and now it's snowing heavily, about 5 weeks early. Half of the trees are still in green leaves. It won't stick, I think.

My guess is these early Arizona lows are a result of the El Nino, and we can expect 6 months of this.....stuff.

I got .45" at my house this evening, but happened to be driving through downtown an hour ago when it was a full fledged rainpocalypse. I-10 was moving at 25mph and wind gusts were making it tough to keep in my lane. Cars were parked on the median and under bridges waiting it out, and lightning was striking furiously.

Reminds me of the storm just like it last year in early October. Actually, this October is surprisingly like last October.

It seems October is a good month for severe weather in Arizona. I think it was 4 or 5 years ago that northern Arizona was struck by 4 tornadoes from a system similar to this.

2010 in Bellemont and 2011 for the Peaks. Bellemont was in early October, the Peaks was mid to late September.

It's a rare morning when it's sunny and in the 60s and I opt to skip the bike commute because there's no way I could get to work without being soaked.

94% humidity! Hello Atlanta! :bdh:

I live near downtown now and it was coming down in sheets. Only downside is the crappy infrastructure around here and I lost power for the 6th time in about 3 months.

that was close, glad it missed me. You could hear trouble for about an hour before it hit... you know that constant low trembling thunder and the dark sky. So are they classifying it as a microburst? or just "downburst behavior" or is that one in the same?

Quite a day across the northern half of Arizona. Numerous flash flood warnings, severe thunderstorm watches and warnings, a current tornado warning south of Winslow, accumulating snow on the peaks down to 9000 feet last night, cats and dogs living together. Mass hysteria. :y:

Don't know what it was about last night. My dogs and cat were going crazy about 2 AM. It wasn't that bad of a storm, but something triggered the poor beasts. Had to get up to calm the brood down.

Lots of rain up here at the Canyon since last Friday. Current air temperature of 46 degrees that feels like 41 with the crisp cold air. Definitely feels like the 8 months of cold has arrived. I might be exaggerating a bit, but if I need to use a space heater 8 months out of the year, that is cold enough.

Ah, you have stated perfectly why I like working seasonally. My official last day on the tour van job is Oct. 31.

Almost half of my return leg of AZT#22 to Sunflower today was in a constant heavy downpour with almost continuous lightning. (Thankfully most strikes were between clouds) At times my boots had 2" thick mud soles.

I saw last night that Hurricane Patricia had eclipsed 185mph -- and now it is up to 205mph ... the strongest ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere! It is expected to make landfall near Manzanillo later this afternoon.

It's interesting that this finally made some headlines. Had it been headed for the east coast the internet would have exploded a week ago, every tv network would be 24/7, and 15 states would have declared emergencies.

Has Anderson Cooper finally bought his plane ticket to Puerto Vallarta today?
