Thunder snow! I've experienced that phenomena once when I was living in Utah.

Most of the April snow comes with thunderstorms.

My brother-in-law is an Eloy native, so I guess MtnBart01 is right.

It was 34 degrees at 1pm today. That is just not right for April 28. Got up to a warm 38 degrees once the snow flurries ceased. But no sunshine all day. Oh well, at least I will enjoy the two weeks of warm weather in June before the monsoons arrive.

You sound like me, when I lived up in those parts. Don't miss it, not at all. I rather like where I am.

I've been saying that I will be leaving the canyon prior to next winter (I consider October the start of winter here since it snows most years that month). I think I could tolerate the cool/cold weather for 8 months out of the year if there was a true, hot, dry summer. But, with the monsoons that cool everything down, that just doesn't happen. It seems most of the people that live up here enjoy the cold; when it hits 60 degrees and sunny, many people are talking about how warm it is. I still don't get it.

I like to compare it to indoor temperatures, where i believe 74 degrees is universally accepted as a comfortable indoor temperature. The average high here in May is around 70, but that is the peak temperature for the day, with lows in the 40s, if not the 30s. True, there is the effect of sunshine, but some days it is overcast with an added wind chill. Last week, it was 73 degrees one day, but overcast and windy, so it still felt cool to me. When I have to use heaters from September through May and never a/c, something must be amiss. When I lived in Florence area for almost 4 years, I can't really think of a time when the heat presented such a mental struggle that the cold did. In fact, it was never a struggle. I guess growing up in the valley of southern CA, I am just more used to warmer weather.

Ah, SoCal weather, best climate in the world. There are times when I miss San Diego.

I'm wonder how long I should wait before I change the thread title to some else, like, "La Nina's something another", or, "mindless weather chit chat".

Word! I was about to head out for an afternoon hike... rain alone does not stop me; but seeing crazy streaks of lightening sure did!

Spring has sprung! It's time for Norway's most popular tourist road to get cleared for the popular summer visitation season. (It usually opens around mid to late May).

Great drone video of the plows doing their thing:

Pretty cool looking road:

The road climbs a mountain pass adjacent to a 1000+ foot waterfall and national park.

Enjoyed that video! Thanks for posting! I seem to recall you have relatives over there and visit from time to time? I went once, when I was 13, just to Oslo and near it for a few days. I remember it pretty well, however. Kon-tiki museum, Vigeland Park, old wooden church, big ski jump visible from town, very clean and orderly, no visible poverty. We were there in April. It was chilly and there was still a little snow on the hills. My mother bought me a beautiful hand-made sweater, which I still have.
