The 2023?!?! Cyclical totals discussion thread.

How are things progressing this year? In keeping with the idea that you are only as good as the numbers you post, I'm up to 61,436' of elevation for the year and a modest 132 miles.
Added August 2019: Looking back 10 years later, I honestly can't think of anything more offensive or unhealthy to say about one's hiking, than the above statement. Thats was my OP in 2009. Hiking should never just be about the stats recorded.

January 31, 2023: Have at it.

@Patrick L
In lieu of miles hiked, you could at least post a lot of cool photos :)

My main numbers goal is to hit at least 500 miles, and 130-150,000 for AEG. I generally only have time to get in one good grinder a week (solely supporting a family of four, plus I like to actually spend time with the wife and my 8 & 5 year old girls too) so I try to maximize my weeklys. I tend to get the best bump from mixing in backpacking trips, and I have only had time for one so far this year. If i can work in a few more this summer I should be good to go. I have been in the top 50 the last three years, but generally quite a bit higher on the AEG range, hopefully top 30 or so. Unique hikes are a must, I just can't hike the same trails every single week. More peaks this year than ever before, that started off with the Seven Summit challenge I did back in January and I have been running with it ever since. 31 unique peaks in a total of 31 trips, some of which included 2 or more. Fun stuff!

I'm pretty happy with my last (nearly) 12 month period. Since July 1, 2014, I have hiked 375,188' of AEG. This is more than any previous 12 month period or calendar year. Tucson has been really good for hiking and AEG, if nothing else. Also, I've nearly beat my lousy year of 2012, when living in Kayenta, in the first half of this year. Most of this has been at low to lower elevations, as it was in Alamo, but it is still a lot for me.

177,120', I beat my 2012 yearly total in the first 6 months of this year!

Unless I get out and hike about 1100' before the months end, I'm having my worst month since June of 2012. Take that Patrick!

Between personal distractions and a few minor injuries I'm having my worst year since 2012 as well. Welcome to the club.

The end of 2015 is nearing. Are people happy with where they are? It seems like top 10 totals are less this year that then were around the same time last year, but I may be remembering things wrong.

I don't even want to look at mine. Started the year strong but then let the siren song of a woman pull me away from the trails. (not that I'm complaining)

Not especially, but I plan to finish strong.

It looks like I had a fairly slow summer. I'd be happy with higher totals but my avg mileage and avg elevation are pretty nice. I have the 5th highest avg elevation of anyone who's hiked at least 500 miles this year so it looks like I'm consistently doing quality hikes which I'm happy with-- considering my focus this year really shifted to things I can do with the mutt.
