If the storms are the result of a monsoonal flow, but we haven't yet had three days of 55 degree dew points ... is it still a monsoon storm?
I feel like we've had a few 55+ defined monsoon starts in June that I can recall, but I don't recall it ever resulting in valley rain this early.
Must be el niƱo.

You got rain?

Might have been last night's rain and the resulting soggy ground this morning but dew points near 60 made for nearly intolerable conditions for yard work this morning. :yuck:
How long until November?

For me, the monsoon is defined as: When the swamp cooler isn't cool enough, and I have to turn on the A/C. :-({|=

Got enough of a sprinkle to get water in the street gutters and to make it humid enough that my yard work prior to real work was a tad sucky. Fortunately my job requires so little of me I can recuperate before I go home.

Pretty hard rain caught me out biking around Fool Hollow Lake a while ago. Was glad I wasn't out in my kayak.

A little bomber this afternoon! Nice to get two storms in one day.

.43 inch rain, pea sized hail (should have let some get in my beer...would have been better than marbles

), gust to 43 mph. Not much thunder with this one. Now my daily rain is up to .63, June at 1.37, and YTD 3.76 inches.

I had yet a 3rd rain event on the 29th (what a day). As of 2 AM on the 30th, my June total is up to 1.54 & YTD 3.93 inches. And it isn't done yet.

If you think that is something, it pales in comparison to the amount recorded in June 1972, when my station was located at my mom's house in Phoenix (18th St/Turney). Monthly total was
4.71 inches!
4 inches fell on the 22nd (in 4 hours
), with 3.48 inches in 2 hours!
I was in the Navy then and a friend was taking the observations for me there. This insane event resulted in massive flooding, made worse by a canal breach. Mom's house had 10 inches of water inside because of this. I got home a few days later to help with the cleanup...what a mess!

Geez fellas, if we're gonna start posting up some measurements to impress one another, we've got to post some more impressive figures than this.

This is a very unusual system for this time of year. While the moisture tap is monsoonal in nature, the energy that is triggering rain is odd. The large areas of rain across all of Arizona, Vegas, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico... including overnight and in the morning hours before daytime heating... Lasting for 3-4 days. I'm not sure I recall anything quite like this before. Certainly not in June!

Rain overnight in Safford, and good, steady rain this morning. Gotta get a rain gauge.

Enter July!
A second round of heavy rain has pushed my daily total to 1.32 and year to date to 5.33 inches.

This following my wettest June at this location with 1.62 inches (previous was 1.48 in 2000...in 36 years of record keeping).
