From the Flagstaff NWS Office:
No real sign of significant rainfall in the extended forecast
period as we transition to a dry and breezy fall weather
pattern. Expect cooler nights and mornings as the moisture blanket
is removed allowing the ground to radiate heat into space more
efficiently. High country freezing temperatures are probably right
around the corner.
With any luck, there will be a bit more rain up in the northern land over the coming few days (or not) and then as the discussion suggests, a drying to fall conditions.

Here is something that made me laugh this morning. According to the local NWS offices, fall, and drier fall weather is basically coming in, and therefore nice weather has arrived. However, what gets people posting in this thread, is lousy weather. I guess everyone is out appreciating the nice weather by hiking or doing stuff in it. I'd like to think that is the case.

That said, I didn't hate this summer in Phoenix, not at all, and I didn't hate monsoon season, actually I'd like to repeat the last 3 months if I could. I just look forward to nice dry, fall, weather.

This is the kind of map I like to see. Tomorrow and Friday are supposed to be even cooler. Great morning biking weather!

Give it a few months and these will be the PM temperatures rather than the AM! :y:

Almost time that I can open my house in the morning to get some fresh air. The next 7 months are why we love living in AZ.

I broke down and had to use my space heater last night. I contemplated its use a couple cold nights two weeks ago, but toughed it out. Fortunately, it appears a warming trend is in the works with high 70s and, more importantly, lows back up to the 40s in a week or so. It is too soon for near freezing temps.

Lows below freezing this morning across the high country. 27 at Bellemont, 31 in Tusayan. Next two mornings look to follow that trend. :)

NWS Flagstaff posted this graphic earlier today.

Tusayan comes in at 227.
124 for Show Low.

Nice to know we're right up there with Nome and Fairbanks. Fargo, Duluth, International Falls, Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay, Rochester ... No contest! They're downright tropical!

We like it cold here in the Grand Canyon State!

And here I thot I moved from Havre, MT (you can almost see Canada from there ;) ) to a warmer climate over 35 years ago.

And just cuz I l always remember Cut Bank's claim to fame:
http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/14586
and if you check out the Wiki page for Cut Bank under climate you can see the avg lows from 1971-2000 ranges from Oct to April are below 32. And the wind is quite something coming off the Rockies... I can tell you a couple stories.

Thanks for the sinister smile there. And thank you for confirming that I am not crazy when I tell people that winter is October through may up here. If it is below freezing or there is snow, that is winter!

Also, I see Los Angeles comes in with an average of zero days per year. Growing up in that area certainly explains my lack of tolerance to any cold. I didn't experience any freezing temps until I moved to arizona!

I am unable to confirm that you are not crazy through forum posts alone. Though there are plenty of people who I CAN confirm are crazy by the same method.

I like cool nights. As long as it gets up somewhere near freezing during the day, it's not really winter yet. Winter is when you have to wear mittens instead of gloves, because you need your fingers to keep each other warm. Winter is when you have to park your car at the bottom of the hill, because you may not be able to stop on the snow and ice. Winter is when the snot freezes in your nose.

Winter is when the broccoli and iceberg lettuce is fresh from Yuma! Dates are in season, and the Bermuda grass is hopelessly brown.

You eat iceberg lettuce? I picture you as a mixed organic greens and spinach guy.

I enjoy the crop in the field. I actually haven't eaten a salad in years, I think.
