Looks like the summer monsoon/ storm season may be at an end. Dry forecasts and zero precipitation totals the next 7 days for the QPF. Another early end to it, but not as bad as last year. Hopefully it isn't as warm and dry this winter.

I wish we could say the same in NJ. Our dry season was too wet, leaving the ground already saturated going into hurricane season.

Hope you are okay with this coming storm, could bring a lot of rain to your area. I still have in-law family near Camp Lejuene, NC, but thankfully my son and fam have left there. The place he was renting was a mile from the beach, older double wide, low lying ground, trees everywhere, etc., etc. In the hurricane prediction maps it looks like he'd have been in the eye, if storm continues its current track. Oh, well, we'll know more in a few days.

It looks like I'll be on the road for this one. The track looks a lot like Hurricane Fran in '96, which we "enjoyed" at my sister's place in Durham and then at a cousin's place in DC. It definitely looks nasty.

The dew point is 74 here now, and the temperature is a degree or two below that.

Live stream of Florence from 35 miles off shore. It's strangely mesmerizing.

Live weather buoy data from the site:
https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page. ... tion=41013
(as of this posting wind speed is only 45mph, gusting to 60mph)
This location is currently in the southwest quadrant of the cyclone about 80 miles west southwest of the eye.

It sure was foggy and slick on the way to the airport. Now I'm drinking coffee in Boulder and it's in the mid 90s with bright sun - the most I've seen since May.

You're in Boulder?! Well, that's a good method of evacuation! Beats riding the bus inland, like I saw some people had to do.

Is it still considered monsoonal when rain in September taps tropical moisture?

Storm clouds coming in this evening quite beautiful, the bright sun against the dark skies. Hope we get something out of it.

Who else enjoyed the slow, reasonably impressive totals today?

@Jim_H
I'm enjoying it down here in Tucson. 0.75 inch so far.

Expected more rain mid morning so opted for range time target shooting the Bear 64 Kodiak and the Bear 69 Grizzly. Nice breeze with a very light sprinkle and explored some jeep trails later in the day with light showers.

Trail Angel Extraordinaire and I are hiking the two AZT segments just east and west of Patagonia (#3 Canelo Hills West and #4 Temporal Gulch) today and tomorrow. I hope the rain hasn't messed things up down there.
