well seeing that this one died previously because of scheduling between various parties... i thought it might make sense to try to plan this one early and knock it out in the fall. anyone still interested?

October and November seem like the months most likely to work.

I read somewhere that the park opens at 5am. Is that correct? or can you get in earlier?

Yes, I do it all the time. To be honest never had a problem either. Others have though I guess, so...

Dysfunction, where do you park?

Normally down by Summerhaven. I just don't part at the trailheads if I'm parking over night. I'll park on the side of the street near the 'residential' neighborhoods and it seems to get left alone. Just means I walk farther, darn.

Edit: I've also parked a bunch on Incinerator Ridge throughout the years...

ok... so are we looking at a down and back? or just through hike? i need to get my legs warmed up for this one!

Just saw the hike was moved to 10/25. Can't do that day. Will watch the post though to see if the day changes...

That day is looking bad for me, as well. I'll keep an eye out as it gets closer...

I notice that the Meetup.com Group, Alt-Hikers, is doing the Catalina Park to Mt. Lemmon on October 18, 2009... but just one way, not looping. I'll be over that weekend doing my Finger Rock Quad (...or at least attempting it) and would be interested in sticking around till the next weekend if anyone is interested in an early start that goes up and comes down the same day... avoids doing any kind of shuttle and gets us back home to soak in a nice hot tub.

...what is the 32 mile reference... round trip mileage?
